The second type are the "Black" knights. (No relation to the recently added mech or a certain Monty Python character). These guys pretty much condemn most everything Pgi does/tries. At worst, they consider Pgi to be corrupt money grubbers & at best, to just be plain incompetent.
The last type I don't think I've ever seen anyone refer to. This type is the "Gray" Knight. This group is will defend or criticize depending on the issue. The "Gray's" understand that Pgi has limits, especially as a small company, but also that they make blunders that they may be reluctant to own up to.
After all that, my question for you all is, what kind of Knight are you?
Personally, I'd describe myself as a "Gray" Knight.

Also, try not to fight. This isn't about which one is best, etc.

The Meta Knight. Brandishing his Gauss and riding his Timberwolf.
I consider myself the Pug Knight. I come to the defense of the solo-queuers, fighting against evil sync-droppers, dastardly events, unfair balance, unholy griefers, and Paulconomy.

But before I go and call myself a grey knight, I need to mention how my own perspective seems to be incredibly rare out of what I usually encounter on the forums. Most "black knights" I see on the forums seem to have all this bitterness and resentment towards the game because they bought a founder's package and don't feel as if they ever got their money's worth. My experience was completely opposite: I was incredibly cynical at the announcement of MWO, and I didn't think PGI could it off. I dismissed all their founder's package promises as just hype to get people to buy into it (and I still do). I didn't put a dime into the game before it was released.
That said, I'm a long-time MechWarrior fan and so I was at least going to give the game a try anyway. But I set my expectations low: All I wanted was World of Tanks with mechs instead. And when I signed on during open beta, that's exactly what I got. I was satisfied with the game and had fun with it. I still do. But it wasn't until I played the final product that I actually started buying stuff from MWO.
That said, my biggest criticism of the game is the pace of development. New content gets added slowly and refinements to the game come in at a trickle. Things seem to have sped up since the PGI/IGP split, but only a little.
So at the end of the day, I support LEGITIMATE criticism over bugs or promised features that haven't been implemented yet.
But I'm not afraid to call people out on unrealistic expectations, being jerks towards the developers for changing their mind on an issue that ultimately doesn't have a great impact on the game (like 3rd person), or accusations that the developers are worse than Hit ler because of their treatment of the franchise.
All that said, can I be a Shovel Knight?

I have been disapointed in the past when PGI was working with IGP.
But now the game is walking again on the right direction and some guys just can't deal with the fact that ain't a triple A game.
Kinda grey knight with part of white.
And complete white knigh for the black knight. (But since anyway if your not with them your against them, doesn't matter. They also like to speak for the others thinking all the others founders think like them. I'm the proof not all founders are against PGI.

So caustic valley is a new mech then. Now I know why I have that particular mech in store.

I disagree with a lot of the things PGI does, including trying to use TT as a starting point for balance and constant money grubbing in lieu of improving the gameplay, but I think these missteps come from being misguided rather than being greedy or evil. Hence I try to stick to debating issues rather than people.
Also, since I work in software development myself and have made more than my share of mistakes along the way, it'd be pretty hypocritical of me to take a steaming dump on other people's work.

While i have my own agenda from time to time i over react, other times i wear rose colored glasses.
This chaotic behaviour is harmonise perfectly with my faction of choice.... so I'm wear fading black to white - like my Mechs

I PGI does something stupid I will definitely call them out on it.
If PGI does something good, I might give them credit for it, but only if it's not just a fixing something stupid they did before, which doesn't happen as often as I'd like.
So
I hate PGI's numerous and longstanding bugs, 90% of which I could easily fix
I hate PGI's UI designs
I dislikes that balance is messed up (but understand it's hard to get right)
I dislike the functional aspects of map design
That said
I like where PGI is going since the IGP split
I like PGI's support staff
I really like the core gameplay
I really like the art direction for mechs
I like the continued promotions and giveways
If PGI would fix the chat and random command bugs I would buy something right now.
If PGI would hire a UI designer and rebuild the entire UI I would probably just throw my entire wallet at them
