Might be, might be not. I've always respected the Crab since MW4:Mercs when I equipped it with tons of IS ML/SL and went on a killing spree on Solaris.
Here in MWO I doubt it will make a dent, at least a noticeable one. Crab was always good because of how many energy weapons could fit. I think IS would deserve their Nova-wannabe and Crab just could have been exactly that. Something with 8-10 energy hardpoints to create a crazy energy build like 8xML or 4xML+4xSPL and so on. But since all variants have 6 energy hardpoints at best I fear this won't happen and we will have another relatively tasteless medium.
At least the hitboxes should be forgiving. Also, pincers!

Jokes aside, it's small for a 50 tonner, it will probably have Stalker-like hitboxes, one can take 350XL and another can take jumpjets, so...it's going to be a ton of fun imo.

I'd rather NOT see it in competitive hands, honestly.

Depends on how the "nose" hitbox turns out. If it's all CT I don't expect the crab will garner much mainstream success.

While the OP was just posting in jest -- and it was quite funny I might add -- If I were a Vegas odds-maker I would lay the odds of 70%-30% for the Crab being DOA....

Using past IS mech releases as an indication of future releases.

It's unique looking.
It's fast.
It's a laser boat.
It has JJs (one variant).

Even with bad hitboxes, you might be able to drive it as a heavier cicada, flanking and peek-a-boo-ing the enemy to death.
It will not be tier 1, but it has the potential to be a fun mech.

Little meaty claws might be the only good mech in resistance 2. (The black knight is ok but not ideal). The crab will be a fast jumping energy boat with a low profile. Better than the cent or enforcer.
