I know this has been brought up before, but us Canadian customers are getting the shaft. Hard. For a Vancouver based company? Come on. Why is my currency converted to US? :(

The Loonie is so damn low, (74 cents give or take) my $14.95 purchase of MC worked out to over $20. I haven't bought any in a loooong time... It may be why they're having these deals on, but who knows. Makes me sad.
I'll be sure to pick up my free MYTH LYNXTH!!!! (I have a lisp so it's funny)

That is all

Yeah after I picked up the marauder I was like "oo. ouch. $84.." I cant do that again for the warhammer...

My company is also slowly outsourcing Canadian suppliers. Just can't justify buying from US anymore, with freight added (also in US, mind you) it's pretty hard to turn a profit nowadays over the border. We've always tried to buy domestically, but now it's like, oh, we have to get that from the states? Ok nvm then! lol unless the customer wants to pay top dollar, but we ask now before wasting time to get quotes, etc.
Oh well. USD is a standard go-to dollar. Ordering from China/Korea is also in USD.

Check out what their minimum wage is.

Then take that amount and increase it by 25% to account for the "casual loading" that part-time employees are entitled to.

Would you work at Taco Bell for 22 dollars an hour?

If they were to price it in Canadian dollars wouldnt they just make it $20 Canadian?

The product determines the price. PGI may price the cost to develop the product in-house in Canadian dollars and then convert it to a more "global" currency.

They don't tell you that until you go to check out. I mean, you can go find a currency calculator, but still. My gripe is that it's a Canadian based company charging US dollars to Canadian customers.

Wow, that sucks. Wish there was a solution, especially since it's in your own country!

This is not the first post about it... probably not the last.

Ah, I think I understand.

You dont care about the price difference (because its literally a few quid) - its the underhand way that PGI is marketing without making it clear that its US dollars?

Being English I naturally assume that anything priced with a dollar sign is going to be US dollars. I can see how other countries that use dollars could potentially be misled.

Exactly. Why charge US dollars at all? You got more customers there or something??

2 years ago when i started playing I was well aware that it was US dollars. I was dropping dough left, right and center. I didn't think twice about it because the CDN dollar was like .90 US. Now? I couldn't imagine buying the Clan wave 1 package for example, or 25,000 MC. The difference would be unreasonable

Would you rather it say $20 CAD and we then get it for $14? It's going to work out the same no matter what.

You don't understand. I'd rather pay my national currency for a game made in my country. I'm paying %35 more because a PGI, a canadian company, chooses to sell their 'product' in US dollars

Whatever. I'm a minority. Who cares

So currency conversion is a thing.

It would be great if Steam lets PGI sell stuff to me at regional rates cause I get things at half price on Steam due to me being in a third world country thanks to Steam's regional conversion.

That isn't why you pay more. That's not how it works. They could list it in yen and you'd still pay more, you're using a weaker currency.

Wait... Shouldn't Canadians be paying less than the Americans, due to how the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar?
I'm confused.

It's worth 0.77 USD.

Ok, I see you guys are complaining about prices and currencies..

Let me just add this:

I live in Croatia. And even though most of the world still thinks of Croatia as some backwater country somewhere out in the sticks, its actually preety nice.

But economy really really sucks... bad.

So, a "Meck Pack" sale for us is litterally a choice between buying a videogame "add on" (not even a full game) for 20+ dolars, or EATING for TWO FULL WEEKS if we're really carefull about how we spend our money.

When I say eating, I mean lunch for me and my girlfrined every day + packing lunch for work. For 2 weeks.

Or buy a Mech Pack...

So...

Yeah.. Sorry.. no mech packs for me. :(

P.S.

Just so you guys wouldn't think I'm some poor looser... I'm a sucessfull graphics designer and work for a well respected company, for a somewhat average Croatian paycheck.

So yes... Mechpacks and MC is overpriced.

What...? No. Were it listed in Yen I'd be paying less because Yen is worth less than a Canadian dollar. Cross reference that amount to the American dollar and the Yen is worth even less*. You must be high again

I get that economics isnt your thing but if you were buy it in Yen it's 1796, so OMG they pay so much more...lol
Or 20 CAN = 14.95 USD = 1796 Yen
It's all the same price in different currencies.
