Seriously. All I get when I'm in Tier 4 is fun matches. There's a few stomps, but it's not every match. Lower I suppose it just gets too easy. I can say though that having the tier standing viewable has inspired me to play more, and play more seriously to get a higher rank. But I don't want that rank. I've had 22 tier 3 matches...all lost, I've averaged 150dmg through them, and each match was a complete stomp.

Of course, ultimately I know this is just a bad weekend for me in the game but dammit it's not fun and I just want to whine to someone about it.

Everyone makes their choice of where fun is. I played T4 matches in my alt account but it was like playing Rome 2 on easy difficulty after beating it twice on Legendary mode. Amusing, but hardly interesting. Seal clubbing makes me rusty, so no thanks.

I find Tier 4 was fun Tier.

But that's because I like running bad mechs, like stock Summoner Primes. Much more fun when not surrounded by metahugging tryhards who's idea of fun is running cookie cutter sword and board laservomit machines.

So for when I want to pretend I'm playing "Battletech", Tier 4 is indeed the fun place. It's a great place to play a game for the sake of playing a game for recreation and relaxation.

When I want to actually "Test my Might" though..... it's only a challenge if I run stock mechs, and really am just competing against myself. When I'm genuinely pissed and want to satisfyingly smash things.... running my 4G against tryhards is the only way to go. Especially when I see names from the forums that swagger about how leet their Tier 1 badge is..... seeing "blowhard X killed by bishop steiner" tends to be more satisfying.

Probably part of my reasoning as well. I think the machines I have the most fun in are a 6x AC2 crab and a two-gauss TBR...both of which, despite me being rather successful with them, prompted such a response from the forum as to inspire my "location". It's only for my laser'ed up TBR's that I actually do move up in rank consistently.

I like Tier Juana, personally.

Solo is such a wild plethora of builds that I don't see too many meta mechs, almost all the Big Names I see in solo are rocking non-meta compliant mechs, like Gut in his SRM bombers, TFun in lolcust, or Soy in a Novatart.

But I don't have to play Tier 5s where it's hardly a challenge and is fun for neither him nor I.

Plus, it's fun performing well consistently non-meta.
