Although the Master Unit List officially lists Vlad Ward's personal 'mech as an Executioner, I think that's a mistake. Omnimechs don't have their fixed equipment modified like that in lore in most cases, especially for characters.
I think Vlad Ward's "Executioner" is really a custom configuration for a Dire Wolf. That makes sense because the Dire Wolf is more of a Clan Wolf 'mech than an Executioner, so you have Clan Wolf pride right there. Also, the Dire Wolf has the pod space to carry that configuration. I've run this configuration in several matches and it is really a beast.

Vladimer Wolf used an Executioner in Phelan/Natasha's Trial of Position, there is no disputing that fact. There are also numerous uses of the Executioner in Clan Wolf at that time (Khan Garth Radick piloted and died in an Executioner at the Battle of Tukkayid). As to the "clout" that a non-blooded Vlad had, he was widely considered a Ristar of Clan Wolf, the favored of Galaxy Commander Conal Ward who was also Loremaster of Clan Wolf at the time, whom wanted Phelan dead. I am sure that a Galaxy Commander (and Loremaster) of Clan Wolf had more than enough clout to give Vlad Wolf any mech in any configuration he so desired.
As to Vlad Wolf's choice of personal mech, it has always been a Timber Wolf. He piloted one on The Rock, was in a Timber Wolf during the Refusal War (and was in a Timber Wolf when ilKhan Ulric Kerensky died to what amounts to a Jade Falcon Lurmpacalypse) and also led from a Timber Wolf in the Great Refusal (He fought Kai Allard-Liao 1vs1 Timber Wolf vs Stormcrow)
