I feel like a hipster as my huginns main firepower is the MG"s and not the SRM's...

Hey man, if that works for you, don't let the meta discussion pull you away.

For me, I go for the SRMs because of the much higher damage in a short amount of time. Being light, I want to do as much damage as I can in as short an amount of time because every second draws attention to me and paints me as a target. I can usually pop of 6 to 8 salvos before the enemy wises up. I either strip all their armor off the rear and core them or I heavily damage them and cause their whole line to turn and engage. Either way, I have super limited time. MG just doesn't have a very good ROI (Return on Investment....sorry, work term) for me.

Even though I do not need someone to remind me of this. As I quite often say things like the meta is an illusion or a competitive social construct and bla bla bla. But it's the positivity in this comment. I am so used to waking up in the day, logging on, and seeing someone quoted me.

Is it someone that wants a constructive comment or debate to turn to an argument of poop flinging?
Is it someone just randomly being sore about me?
Is it someone who wants to smash the concept of meta against the back of my head to confine my advice to someone else to be narrowed into a specific way?

It isn't a pleasant experience really ... BUT this has made my day. really.

Thanks :) When I was younger, I trolled with the best of them. I have found, I get better results with a good attitude.

That being said, there is a group of guys whom I roll with randomly who are trying to break the meta mentality. Currently, we run primarily lights and fast mediums but we screw with the system just to try things out. If you are interested in some non meta group gaming, hit me up in game. Thus far, we have had positive results.

Yesterday, we had me in a raven with NARC and a bunch of lights with LRMs. The super mobile LRM platform idea was wildly successful. We racked up some serious kill counts.

This is why I love the Raven 3M (not in game, might be in a year or so)

After today's patch with the changes to quirks and SRMs I am thinking about swapping the ASRM4's for SRM6's, seeing the more general missile quirks and the tighter spread of SRM6. SRM4+A seems to be a bit "too tight" for the weight cost a.k.a. it's not needed anymore (if it ever was).

Thoughts?

played a game today and it feel weak now. Before it was dangerous but easy to leg. But of course that was too much effort for the crybabies so the one thing that was going for it was nerfed.

50% cooldown without any skills unlocked.

How is it OP that this thing does what other lights need to do with 4 SRM 4's and extra heatsinks? This things RoF was so fast that even at 2.0 heat efficiency it still over heats and it makes any other missile light cry to dare stand up to this.

For the small small price of the fact it's legs is slightly easy to shoot at... which also applies to the firestarter, jenner, commando, locust, etc... all those mechs having more than just that one advantage, firestarter for example having poor viarity between each chassis and it also has large arms, Jenner's centre torso relation to side and limited weapon hardpoints. the commando being unable to carry all the stuff it wants to carry as well as profile not being the best. But making the list of all the other mechs faults in relation to what could or others be. and let's look at the Raven Huginn.... which sheer firepower alone allows it to facetank and kill a Direwolf face to face if that dire is not a laser gauss vomit build (which is quite often actually) and win due to the DPS alone.

There is absolutely no reason to have it at 50%. How often you see anyone put SRM 6, SRM 2, or an SSRM 2 on their huginn? or an LRM 5, or LRM 10, etc? or machine guns, or AC 2, or AC 5, or anything. Anything BUT the twin SRM 4's?
Rarely? That's part of the point. It is currently not underpowered now. You just have to learn you can't do 100 damage to that thing you glued your mouse button down for and killing it in seconds. Try replacing that artemis you had before with 4 x Machine guns if you want to have more firepower and crit ability. It works wonders.

....Reasonable stuff...

Yeah, this is all true. I played my Huginn to the max while it was the quirk overlord, but it was unfairly blessed compared to the other missile lights. It does feel noticeably less potent now - there are actually detectable gaps between volley shots when chain firing - but I always ran the 4MG 2SRM version, and even after the debuff I can still get 600+ damage matches, and I still don't have trouble expending all my SRM ammo into red dorrito RCTs.

The Huggin was a great CW mech. It could do some real damage to generators and objectives. I used to occasionally take out a Artic cheater in a huggin.

Those days are gone. All mechs must bow to the Artic Cheater, a god among mechs.

It isn't just for "lols". I am now pulling 520 dmg, 2 kills, 1.6 w/l 1.9 kdr with an lrm10/5 huginn. It maxes damage at a touch over 800, but that rarely matters anyway. The mobility, jjs, and de/accel quirks make it an amazing peeker. It is something to try anyway.
