Hm, firstly im not new player, while i not play hours and hours a day, i tend to put at least
4 matches a day, mainly pugging....mech in this case was MX-90 with 5 AC5 (first drop
in this configuration, and i was 350 points away from mastering), i didnt get any kills,
i did get 4 components, 6 assist. Bottom line, i know the grind, i have spend quite few bucks
and time in game, but this new points system is starting to get me...along with echalones of
new mech...but very few real game upgrades. With all awards mech and crab infusion...
i bearly touch any of them...that makes me consern, becouse BT is quite big for me.

Yeah it seems to me XP has gone down per match. And even with premium time, 30% of a small number is still a small number.

too many mechs being released, too hard to keep up, too much grind.

PGI'S Paulconomy and senseless valuation of things is root of the problem. They want to enforce purchase of Premium time.

Gentlemen, don't you understand?

The XP grind MUST be extremely slow, so that when you buy a mech pack, you get 4 variants of a particular newly released mech, you have plenty of time to grind them up until the next mech comes out.

That way, you're supposed to get a 120$ worth of "play time" with a particular chassis, and if the XP grind is slow, you basically buy a 80+ hours of play, like you would if you bought some full game.

This is PGI's attempt to justify groselly overpricing mechpacks.

If it only took you a day or two to master a particular mech chassis, you'd be whining every other day for new mechs to grind and the game would get boring for many people who just want "MOAR MECHS" to meta-build.

What else is left for "Whales" to do in MWO? They've been playing the game for years now..

Think about it... you know I'm right..

It's back-firing. I did put some money down a while ago on this game, but now I simply don't have enough faith in the direction it's heading to spend any more.

And that is their problem they really messed up the business model. The only way they make money is from mech sales and premium time purchases.

But only Battletech fans are going to keep buying new mechs that come out. It seems to me that most of the players still are around or FPS crowd and once the they have the mechs they are successful with they don't need to buy mechs or need much xp or cb.

I think that is why PGI is putting out more mechs quicker is because less are being sold.

It's just a matter of time before they are not making enough money. People seem to think Stream will save them, but they way things are now with the current player attitude, it won't happen.

Thats why they need decals, a ladder, custom geo and other stuff to make your mech unique.

I feel your pain OP....grinding is super annoying and xp hard to accumulate. Premium time does help, but that's not much of a comfort since you have to pay for it. I'd love to see the grinding aspect disappear, at least for the type of mech efficiencies it affects now. The mech shouldn't be mostly unplayable for a long time and then suddenly be great. The grind should be related more to the pilot than the machine, or maybe replace mech efficiencies with mech quirks for grinding. Instead of, say, that 15% energy range quirk being standard and the ability to torso twist or stop/start fast being a skill to learn, maybe make the mech run right from the start and make the quirks a goal to achieve.

lol this thread is why I see the same people from match to match day in day out. Outside of events, theres only 1,000 or so people playing at any given time.

Were less popular than Toribash.

everyone has already found another. I still play MWO and will never post a 'quit' post, but this game is basically dead to me. I play it a few times a month. PGI has made 10 bad decisions for every good one, and basically fulfilled all of their late promises with lackluster content. Balancing is awful and TTK is faster than tank games. soooooo..... go shove your elitist douche captain attitude up your rear CT

Too bad it's just going to drive off most new players instead.

This.

Since most of the "rewards" in this game are in the form of XP and c-bills, and since we are dealing with the CoD generation, poor rewards will lead to poor retention, which keeps this game a fringe game.

It does take me about a day to master a chassis....

But i am nowhere near a new player and i know what i must do to level my mechs in my play time each night. New guys need a bit of an indicator as to what makes Xp and what makes Cbills.

and not just the little pop ups that show up mid match which if you are fighting you hardly even notice.

This one really, really bother me... the scoring system... i just had a match, scoring
749 points of damage, we lost due to base being rushed and i did die.... but for top
scoring damage in my team, by almost factor of 2...i recived 190xp.

Here's a list of all the things you can do that give you XP and CB: Rewards 2.0 - What you need to do to get XP and CB.

If you play to some of those, you'll see both XP and CB increase rather dramatically.

As you can see from that list, damage done is 0 XP and 21 CB per point, so your 749 damage netted you 0 XP and 15,729 CB.

Your team also lost the match, and a loss is only worth 40 XP and 10,000 CB whereas a win is 250 XP and 25,000 CB.
