Being a clanner, I have no issues with the reduction of max range of lasers if it puts them in line with IS range (including quirks). However, burn time needs to be adjusted to match as well. Currently, Clan lasers rarely do full damage because:

1. Combat ranges on most maps negate the range advantage. This puts IS lasers in their optimal or near optimal range most of the time.
2. Long burn times mean that Clan mechs need far more face time. An IS mech can step out of cover, fire full damage burst and step back into cover while a Clan laser is still burning!
3. This means that in CW matches clans lose to IS laser boats nearly all the time if pilot skill on opposing teams is equal.

Laser balance needs to be heat + range + burn time to really be balanced.

One thing maybe not to forget in the Formula, the Number of Laserslots aviable, because 5 Lasers with a sligthly longer Burntime, can do much more dammage, as 2 Lasers with an sligthly shorter Burntime.

Agreed, IS has far more effective mechs for laser boating currently. Would be good to see that changed as well.

All i have seen is Clan Lasers doing extreme amounts of work compared to anything that IS has to offer.

I completely agree. Clan mechs can equip more lasers + more range + more damage and what else.

For IS mechs with laser to be effective, BEFORE getting close enough for optimal range you have to go through so much fire that once you're close enough you're probably either dead or just get one shot off and gotta run.

Well.. That's just my point of view since i don't really see any point in this topic.

You test tube pilots need to take a look at the CW map before you complain that the IS is OP. You guys are laughable.

Very well, if burn time needs to be balance damage will have to be reduced by 1.

This patch is trying to solve the TTK issue so my thoughts are in line with yours. we need clans to be balanced properly.
Reduced burn time and damage.

So in regards to clan medium laser: 6 damage and 1.05 beam duration
Puts it closer to the IS medium: 5 damage and .90 beam duration.

Last I checked Nova was a clan mech. your argument is invalid!
