Increasing component HP has only made critical hits virtually useless. throughout playing tonight i have not once seen a destroyed weapon on my own mech or others that did not directly result for a locations destruction.
On the live server it is difficult enough as it is to take out small one or two crit components like lasers. its quite easy to loose a large weapon like an AC, gauss, or large LRM launcher.
I have two suggestions,
1. the amount of HP needs to vary based on the equipment. for example, 5 HP for laser weapons, 5 for most missile launchers, while 10 remains for most medium sized AC and missile weapons, and like on live the really big ACs have 15 hp or so.
2. When a component takes damage it should absorb that damage instead of applying damage to the mechs internal structure, and the component. this could drastically increase a mechs time to kill as any critical hits scored no longer can destroy the limb and the component at the same time.

So then crit seeking weapons are actually useful for something?

even with crit seeking weapons, you will destroy the section before you take out a component. because crit seekers still deal damage to the structure AND the component at the same time.
on live with MGs its very tough to take out a mechs small weapons before to limb goes flying off. its still easy to destroy the big weapons with MGs

I don't recall any of the numbers from the crazy surprise PST we had last time, but I think almost every mech had increased internal structure which might help to balance that back out and allow weapons to still be destroyed. Right now no mechs have that, so it's kind of skewed.
