Easy balance solution. Give IS melee, kicks, punches, swords, axes and DFA!

It hurts IS lasers far more than it does Clan lasers.
About the AC boats or dual gauss, the reduced sensor range for heavies and assaults in many cases makes them depend on lighter mechs for spotting. Or eyeballs 1.0 when doritos are not available. Feels like an indirect nerf to me, requiring better awareness to use the ballistics for full effect.

I demand a Nova-U with a big ass sword if that happens.

No.. you'll get PPC+Gaussed to death by the top tier players instead as they don't suffer from the laser targeting range nerf.
If you want to see unintended consequences... we'll more likely slide back to 2013-2014 where people will excessively complain about a former meta.
Right now, the Doritos delay is not online on the PTS... so you're going to see a bigger change once "TAR" is actually online live.

Are you really advocating to push test content onto the live servers, and that anyone that doesn't like the changes don't want to play an "actual" MW game? Do you have any idea how idiotic that sounds?

They should just do one of those trick or treat events on the PTS, but the rewards go toward the live server.

As for just introducing what you would have on the test server instead on the live server ... well that can cause issues with the population and players irritated over how things are changed with out fully being worked out first.
So this may be my opinion but the only way to increase the test server population is to give a reward, and then have the test server run for a months time to get a sufficient run on the new mechanics.
Suggestion for reward:
Install and play 1 match on test server get a free mech bay (yeah cost may go into thousands of dollars but should pay off later when the game is better for it when steam comes).
Play 50 matches on test server for that time period get 10 million C-Bills and 10k GXP (that way they get to take something back with them to their live account and similar to what they could have earned ... sorta short in my opinion on pay out but its something).
Play 100 matches on test server for that time period get a cockpit item (like operation 24 hanging item ... something to say hey I helped out in a big way on the test server).

I don't think it's just the Underhive that's raging.

Making lasers worse doesn't make SRMs better; Gauss still remains at the top.
PPCs might even see use; on chassis that can mount 20 heatsinks with them.

It doesn't make SRM's any better but it does let people get in close with SRM's more often without taking 3 laser alphas within 30 second from a ebon or timber.
