Are you talking about the guy from MW4 Mercs in the tournament stages? If so thats the lamest voice over ever.

I thought it was some fan made commentary from the mekpack addons =P

Please keep him away from the game if its the same guy.

I always viewed Duncan as the has-been who was never very good at piloting mechs. I'd kinda like to hear a second announcer who actually was good just talking down on Duncan every time he says something goofy, kinda like with the Boston Bruins announcers, you have Jack Edwards who I don't think ever actually put on a pair of skates in his life, and then you have Andy Brickley who actually played for the bruins during a few successful seasons during the 1980's.

Banter like this would be freaking hysterical:

BTW: Brickley actually got credit for a goal when Ray Borque hit an errant slapshot that bounced off of Brick's head and went into the goal. It'd be hysterical if the new announcer had something hysterical happen in a match that caused him to win in a similar manner.

It's been years since I played MW4:Mercs, but I can follow the match by sound alone. I wonder what that says about me.

I'd buy Shatner for the voice of my Catapult. That would be awesome.

Yes, it's the same guy, and you're too late. He already has an MWO account and posts in the forums. It was, you know, mention that in the first post...

I'll agree to paying for voice packs. The devs stand to make a pretty penny from voice packs, and we stand to have alot of fun.

While I can certainly respect the nostalgia factor and he has a decent voice from the few clips I have heard, it is not as announcer/showman-ish as I would hope for arena type commentary.

His voice would be suited for something vintage like Fallout, but his lines are terrible. Hopefully, he can get someone to write some good material if he is in MWO. The thing I hate the most about MWLL is that I can't turn his voice off in the SA matches, because it is sooooooooooooooooooooooo loud over all of the sound effects. >.>

I'll be walking out of the bay, enjoying the wonderful sounds on my system, then out of nowhere "LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE GUYS IN THE LIGHT MECHS. WAY TO GO LIGHT MECHS!"

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I'M UNDER ATTACK!!!! EJECT EJECT.... oh wait, it was the announcer. Phew.

All credit to the MW:LL guys, but a voice actor is only as good as the lines he's given to say. George's delivery as Duncan Fisher in MW4:Mercs was fantastic, but part of what made it so memorable was the writing. As some others have commented, it had that perfect dose of washed up former Not-Quite-All-Star, with George's delivery throwing in just a little bit of Howard Cosell for good measure. Many of the lines were corny, but intentionally so and perfectly suited to what is essentially a pro-sports commentator. The MW:LL stuff just seems a little too dry and flavourless.

arena battles is the height of 80s battletech juvenilia. it belongs to the realm of pilots in tank tops and ugly 80s mech designs.

really, this is a chance to leave that stuff behind.

I loved the Duncan Fisher outtakes from MW4 Mercs. Not the "politically correct" version, but the uncensored version, which Microshaft forced him to remove. Good thing I was online that day.

I'd rather get the original lady for the voice of the computer than this guy for Solaris Arena but if we can only have this guy.. then I still vote yes.

I'm glad that's the case then. The guy can project really well. I just hope Pirahna can write some good material and have an option to adjust the voice volume. It'd also be nice if it sounded like he was on a speaker, radio or headset instead of sitting in the cockpit, yelling at my head, like in MWLL.

Heck he could be a good voice actor but the lines they gave him were terrible. I always shuddered when he said one of the canned phrases during the arena matches.

Guess Im the only person who felt that way lol.
