Would you like to see more diversity in the visual laser weapon models placed on Battlemechs? The current "one laser-box to rule them all" method seems like more of a short-term solution, quite frankly it doesn't look as good as it could. I'd like to propose the idea of more tubular designs, incrementally increased in length and diameter for each step up in laser size. Keep the current square models for standard lasers (increasing length for different laser sizes), but for pulse maybe go for a tube instead of a box. ER variants of lasers could use the pulse laser tube with a squared cooling vent at the base of the weapon. This will give energy weapons more heft and give newer players a sense of the kinds of weapons they're placing onto their Mechs.

The box version is suited to most torso hardpoints where the laser is recessed, but not for arms where it looks unimpressive, under-powered. Should be more like a muzzle with a lens in it.

Eh, while I wouldn't mind it, it'd be a ****-ton of work. They'd have to re-do the custom geometry for...every 'Mech. That's a lot of work for very little benefit.

It is a lot of work, but if this is a higher end game, don't you think we're worth it :D? The Mad Dog and Timber Wolf especially would look much better with longer barrels for the lasers.

As someone who works with a lot of lasers in the real world...their current visual representation is pretty on par with real life, anyway. Lasers all work essentially the same with only variances in circuitry, lens quality, and power supply. What you see on the outside typically all looks about the same.
