Pugs lost again, and no one in my unit wants to do CW.
Enter: Solarius 7 Arena.
There is enough mechs around and enough builds to go with them. And with the new tier system, why not.
12 Man Free For All in a big 'ol arena with a bunch of people cheering you on.
The map is a simple arena style layout that promotes 12 man mech combat. And the arena itself can be "housed" on the planet Solarius (Duh) somewhere between Steiner and the purple chick...I mean Marik I do believe is its location. Whoever "owns" the planet faction wise themes the battlefield. (I.E. if Steiner holds the planet, there are Steiner banners everywhere and a blue fist on the ground of the arena. However that notion is purely cosmetic and can be debated as such.
Selecting the "arena" gametype will prompt a secondary selection or menu.
Do you go to the Upstart arena? (Standard FFA rules apply and match earnings is based solely on performance)
Do you go to the Prize Fights? (Standard FFA rules apply, match earnings is based on ENTRY WAGERS and has THREE TIERS OF WAGER)
or do you go to the SOLARIUS CUP? (Standard FFA rules apply, match earnings are based off of wagers and a secondary ranking system is in place meaning only the best of the best shine {more for competitive players})
-------
So you chose the Upstart arena? Matchmaker immediately places you into queue and you go enjoy shooting anything that moves.
-------
Prize fights eh? Pick your wager tier then. After picking your tier you are placed in queue and go enjoy shredding the competition and getting paid for it.
Bronze Tier. Entry Wager: 20,000 C-Bills
Last Man Standing Winnings: 120,000 CB
2nd place: 90,000 CB
3rd place: 30,000 CB

Silver Tier: Entry Wager: 200.000 C-Bills
Last Man Standing Winnings: 1,000,000 CB
2nd place: 800,000 CB
3rd place: 400,000 CB
4th place: 200,000 CB
5th and Below: No Payout
Gold Tier: Entry Wager: 2,000,000 C-Bills
Last Man Standing: 12,000,000 CB
2nd place: 6,000,000 CB
3rd place: 3,000,000 CB
4th place: 1,500,000 CB
5th place: 1,000,000 CB
6th place: 500,000 CB
7th and Below: NO PAYOUT
-----
Solarius Cup
You must submit 100,000 C-bills per match you wish to play.
First place finishes earn you 400,000 CB
2nd place: 300,000 CB
3rd place: 150,000 CB
4th place: 75,000 CB
5th place: 37,500 CB
6th place: 18,750 CB
7th - 12th place: 3,125 CB
These winnings total to 1,000,000 C-Bills. Leaving 200,000 CB to be given to the Solarius cup EACH GAME PLAYED.
At the end of every season Each player has a total of stats that looks a little like this.
lets say it was my own after a decent season
--------------------
Player: wamX
Unit: SRoT
1st: 28 (number of 1st place finishes)
2nd: #
3rd: #
4th: #
5th: #
6th: #
7th< : $
SK: 214
SD: 198
RNK: #
---------------------
(SK: Season Kills, SD: Season Deaths, RNK: Season Ranking)
The player that has the 1st place season ranking shall win the Solarius cup and 50% of the total amount of C-Bills in the cup, the remaining 50% will be split amongst the other top finishers. In the event of a Tie in number of 1st place finishes, the ranking will be determined by number of kills (more is better), then deaths: (Fewer is better), and so on.
This gametype will hopefully allow the additions of other features of cosmetic and battlefield purposes. Plus an announcer and other flashy stuph for those in the arenas.
CONSTRUCTIVE comments welcomed.
Apologies for words.

FFA would be fun, sometimes. It would probly be best as one of a few modes in Solaris arena's.
Playing a free multi player demo this week end a bit and it has an FFA and to be honest it isnt to popular. Its not Mechwarrior so the FFA isnt as good as it would be for this game but it does make a point that it would have limits to how often players would want that mode. Better not enough than to much.
The FFA in that game was played a few times and everyone had fun though. For mechwarrior, maybe 1 in 5 or 10 matches or something like that. Then it would remain a fun mode.

Solaris rarely featured FFAs with multiple mechs. It was most often 1v1, often on a fairly small map.
A massive FFA was, however, the way the clans would choose wild card contenders when a blood name was up for grabs.

I'l totally for a FFA gamemode. Even/especially if it is 24v24.

Not the first thread about Solaris, and hopefully not the last. Keep it fresh in the minds of the devs that there are those of us that want Solaris bad.

you know... ac20 raven might just be meta for light vs light solaris since relatively few lights can survive an AC20 up the tailpipe
So... I'm down for this.
