Hi Guys, I stopped playing MechWarrior Online last year (2016) and recently decided to try it out again after the July 18th 2017 Patch which included a lot of new equipment for the mechs. I logged in and realized that the Pilot skills system seems to have changed... so what exactly changed?

I have 3 Wolverine Variants which I planned to get the more advance pilot skills for having 3 variants of the same mech... but now has things changed with the new Pilot Skills Tree? Does it mean having 2 or more variants of one specific Mech no longer gives you the advancements that were there previously?

I need some help transiting to the new Pilot Skills Trees and understanding of what has changed since 2016. Please help and explain what exactly works now if you could, thanks!

Yes and no. You no longer need three variants to reach the end of a skill tree and mechs can still be set up to somewhat resemble what you had, but it might not be optimal anymore. You'd also need to put points into things that were previously modules and consumable slots. Maybe reading the patch notes might help before you slog through Leone's collected guides:

basic breakdown
There are now about 250 unlockable nodes, each Mech can have upto 91 active at a time

You would have recieved skill points locked to the varient for any skills you had under the old system, and any modules you used to own would have been refunded as general SP which can be spent on any Mech

Skills are no longer per varient, each individual Mech now has its own skills.

the requirement to get 3 varients of a chassis to unlock the more advanced skills has been removed

the old modules have been rolled into the main skill tree, and it is possible to put the skills for pretty much all the old modules on a single Mech

skills now cost Cbills as well as XP to unlock

there are multiple paths to most skills.
