Abomination

Mass 80 Tons

Armor: 11.5 tonsDurallex Heavy Armor

Engine: Pitban 240

Speed: 54 km/hr

Jump Jets: No

Armament: 3x Magna Mark I Small Laser
1x Defiance Mech Hunter AC 20
2x Holly Long Range Missile Pack 15s
1x Flail

When the small and relatively unknown mercenary company Eddie’s Irregulars came upon the gutted, but still functional, remains of a Charger after a raid on pirates they embraced the find with excitement as they were in desperate need of assault ‘Mechs. Though the BattleMech had no engine, gyro, or weapons to speak of, the mercs brought the hulk of the 'Mech before their head technician, Billy McDavis, who over the next several months turned the skeleton into his pet project. Using some of his own pocket money and drawing from the company’s small stockpiles of weapons and parts, Billy rebuilt the chassis until it was almost impossible to recognize the vehicle’s origins. The Abomination is known as a Frankenmech and can be found at the forefront of any battle the Irregulars take part in, acting as a shield for the smaller BattleMechs and attempting to mash enemies into chunks of scrap.

Though much slower than the Charger that it originally sprang from, Eddie’s Irregulars wasted no space on the design in an attempt to produce the best rounded BattleMech possible. For long range, two Holly LRM-15s were mounted on the left torso to give the Charger heavy long-range punch. At closer ranges a Defiance AC/20 with two tons of extra ammo is mounted on the right torso and the left arm sports a Small Laser and Medium Laser; the weaponry is complimented by 15 single heat sinks. The weapon that earned the BattleMech its name is the six ton flail that replaces its right hand actuator; this weapon has proven to be devastating in close quarters and many pilots who faced the Irregulars in battle learned to avoid it at closer ranges; usually at the cost of one of their lance mates. The Abomination is well protected, even for an 80 ton BattleMech, mounting 11.5 tons of Durallex Heavy armor that allows it to take significant punishment in a fight and two Small Lasers mounted on the back of the left and right torso help ward off faster enemies trying to get an easy kill from behind.

As per the Aerotech boxed set, conversion equipment costs 10% of the total mechs weight.

And those rules are no longer official.
Likewise with the other rules associated with LAMs in that boxed set.
You'll have to wait for Interstellar Operations, most likely.

The WoB LAMs from Final Reckoning use 10% mass, replace the lower Life Support in the head with Avionics and slap a Landing Gear in the CT. That is the only difference that is apparent atm (construction-wise) though actual game-play rules appear to have been altered.

You can't have it both ways. Either we get a dozen similar topics at once or someone finds the search button.

That may be so, it is still by no means an official ruling on the matter.
To counter exactly that is the SHD-X2 Shadow Hawk LAM with 20% mass worth of conversion equipment (TRO:3085).
Which btw, also lacks the airmech mode.

Just because I can:

Sales Pitch: A fast medium designed for raiding, the Preacher uses standard armor and an all energy weapon loadout to ease supply in field. The Preacher carries a hatchet specifically designed to do maxmimum damage to hardened buildings. With an ER PPC for long range combat and a trio of ER Medium lasers to back it up the Preacher is more than able to hold its own at range. The Preacher has performed admirably in field tests where units raved about its electronics suite, a Beagle Active Probe and a Guardian ECM Suite. The testing units were also appreciative of the mech having two hands to carry salvage off the field from raids. One unit even managed to drag an Atlas off of the low gravity moon Grindura.

Description: The mech is generally roundedon the shoulders and hips with reverse canted legs and 3 splayed toes. The torso has a narrow frontal profile with and oval shape. The rear of the torso overhangs the hips and houses three pairs of jump jets. The left arm houses the hatchet and the right houses the ER PPC.

I can't believe I just found this topic. So here goes :angry:

==================================================
Justice JXA-51

Mass: 80 tons
Tech Base: Inner Sphere
Chassis Config: Biped
Production Year: 3058
Cost: 8,895,720 C-Bills
Battle Value: 1,728

Chassis: Endo-Steel
Power Plant: 320 Fusion Engine
Walking Speed: 43.2 km/h
Maximum Speed: 64.8 km/h
Jump Jets: None
Armor: Standard Armor w/ CASE
Armament:
2 Kallon Industries - Nanking (FedCom) LB 10-X ACs
4 Ceres Metals (St. Ives) Medium Lasers
1 Cal-Boeing (Belladona) Anti-Missile System
Manufacturer: HildCo Interplanetary
Primary Factory: St. Ives

==================================================
Overview:
The experiences and losses of 1st St. Ives Lancers in the Clan Invasion led to
a rethinking of mech production and tactics by the St. Ives Academy of Martial
Sciences.

Two things stood out in need of immediate attention:
1) Clan long range firepower
2) Elementals

Point #1 was moderately addressed by heavier armor and anti-missile systems,
allowing the less advanced IS tech battlemechs to survivie closing to a more
effective range for their weapons.

Point #2 would be addressed by the very flexible LB-10-X autocannon, and a
battery of very mobile auxilliary lasers.

Knowing the final advantage they could leverage was sheer numbers, a new light
assault mech was developed to take advantage of as many efficiencies in
materials available as possible.

St. Ives had three things in good supply from factories within the Compact or
through military alliance with FedCom:

1) VTR-9D Endo-Steel chassis (HildCo Interplanetary on St. Ives)
2) Medium Lasers (Ceres Metals on St. Ives)
3) LB-10-X Autocannons (FedCom export)

Thus was born the JXA-51 "Justice".

==================================================
Capabilities:
The prototype for the Justice was built on a modified VTR-9D endo-steel
framework. A standard engine was used for durability and economy. Dual
heatsinks built into the engine provide all the heat dissipation needed.

An Anti-Missile System was mounted at the highest point on the mech, but
otherwise the head housed a standard cockpit and sensor suite.

The right arm gauss mount was removed in favor of a four-lens Medium Laser
housing that could be easily pulled for maintenance and tuning. This module was
made cheaper by slaving all four lasers to a single power coupling and fire
control unit which operates them as permanent weapon group.

Left and Right Torsos were heavily modified to accept an LB-10-X Autocannon in
each. This is where the torso symetry ends, as all ammunition for the
autocannons and the AMS system were placed in a CASE protected bay in the Left
Torso. The right torso was made as durable as possible with lattice of endo
steel. Reasons for this layout are explained in the Battle History section.

This mech is encased in 14.5 tons of standard armor, providing near maximum
protection for mechs of its size.

==================================================
Battle History:
SIMC worked closely with the best tactical minds at SIAMS when designing the
Justice. The weapon and ammunition storage locations were determined with a
specific fighting style in mind -- keeping the right side of the mech toward
the enemy as much as possible.

St. Ives Academy Proving Grounds test pilots quickly adapted to what they
eventually dubbed the "dress right" or "right echelon" fighting style. The mass
of lasers in the right arm allowed the full force of the Justice's auxilliary
weaponry to bear upon targets ahead or in the right arc of the mech. And a
quick twist of the torso opened up firing solutions for both of the
autocannons.

The intended, and effective result of this was to protect the ammunition bay
for as long as possible in combat. As the armor and firepower on the right side
of the mech degraded from damage, Justice pilots eventually changed facing to
expose the left side to their enemies, using the weaponless left arm as a
shield, and again, twisting the torso momentarily to open firing lines for the
autocannons.

While this asymetrical fighting style opens the Justice to counter tactics that
take advantage of its less powerful left arc, mixed-mech lances easily mitigate
this concern.

==================================================
Variants:
Some thought has been given to building a complementary "left-handed" version
of the Justice -- whether this will be needed is still unknown.

==================================================
Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
This battlemech was named after Justin Xiang Allard, husband of Candace Liao,
who died of wounds infilcted while defending her from a Capellan assassin.
