Haven't played much last couple of months, since PSR was introduced. I'm, supposedly, a tier 2. I have been winning about 1/3 of my games, averaging a little less than 200 damage. And, my tier bar has actually moved up some, very slightly.

I can think of no other way to put this. The methodology used to determine PSR is incredibly stupid.

Edit. - clicked post by mistake

To have a postive bias in a rating system is absolutely moronic. M O R O N I C.

It should be weighted equally. Good games in a loss PSR should go up. Bad game in a win, should go down. Biasing the system towards gaining PSR means someone like me will never drop down into the tier I should be in and promises me a MWO future of gauss vomit and strike (forced sexual intercourse).

If you are the first to day, 'cause you attacked into the enemies' teeth, busting up their momentum, and thus your team won, then what should happen to your PSR?

I agree, but short of referees watching each game and handing out PSR scores, there is no way to measure that.

Yes there is :) ... if your team wins more often because of your actions no matter what your "PSR" based on damage or other factors then a system based on team wins and losses will eventually reflect your contribution to winning. It takes a certain number of matches but the only common element between games you play in ... is your contribution (unless you are playing on a team) ... so eventually the rating you receive will reflect your contributions to winning. (This is what the Elo rating system is based on and it is mathematically sound even if much maligned :) ).

And ... I agree with the OP ... a system in which scores continually go UP is Moronic. Scores should be conservative on a per match basis. What someone wins in rating another player loses. The current system tends to reflect how many games you have played as much as anything else ... so those who play a lot get a higher score ... which really is moronic.

Consider new players seeded in tier 4 ... with enough games played all the veterans will be tier 1. They will never see the new players but more importantly, the pool of players for new players to play against will get smaller and smaller leading to longer wait times in tier 4 and below and more dissatisfied new players and reduced player retention.

If PGI are not watching these metrics ... then they will be in big trouble when it comes around to bite them.
