Here's the thing

The new steam players? They aren't carrying 4 years of baggage. They're going to come in and see things like pinpoint and hear "soon" and be ok with it.

New players don't care it's sat there for 3 years.
New players don't care that something has been broken for 3 years
New players don't know about nor do they care about islands
New players don't know or care what PGI "lied" about 3 years ago.

You're right about that, but new players absolutely WILL care about the early game grind. I've had so many friends try this game and leave because it takes too long to feel like you're getting somewhere. That's the first experience all these Steam players are going to have, and a vast majority of them won't ever give it a second chance after that.

But we'll be sure to bring them up to speed on all of that!

I'm sure the salt will fly and a few more fanclub members will jump on the bandwagons, but it won't be anything more than it is here, a vocal minority with nothing better to do than sit around a complain about a game they "hate", yet continue playing
for 4 years

no they won't
there is no real grind here.
argue against that opinion all you want, but most of those new players have played actual grindy games and will see MWO's is pretty tame.
