So I don't have many clan mechs, mostly IS mechs. What is a good heat MGMT level for clan mechs? In most cases with my IS build I try to stay near 1.4 ...Some of my IS mechs have exceptions though.

1.33 is a good all-around heat management level although for laser boats 1.22-1.25 is perfectly acceptable if you keep an eye on it.

You want roughly the same heat level on a Clan Mech as an IS Mech.

If I am going for a single range loadout I will aim for 1.3-1.5, if I am going for a multi range loadout I can go much lower.

I attempt to stay in the 1.3-1.5 range. Anything below and you could find yourself accidentally overheating in a brawl, anything higher and you might have too many heatsinks. There are obvious exceptions to the rule, but it's a good baseline rule to follow.

For example, with clan heavies I try to be between 40 and 50 alpha and 1.35 heat. My Hellbringer laser boat is built to that baseline. I can get an alpha off and then just continuously fire volleys of 2 lasers at a time for a good 30 seconds or so without overheating. It allows me to keep an IS opponent expecting me to overheat on their toes and often out-DPS them pretty badly. They tend to overheat trying to keep up.
