Check assault.

Set up your entire team to ambush their lights and fast heavies as they get on your base.

Vastly outnumber their assaults.

Ez-pz.

In other words, have a plan.

Or put in another way:Teamwork is still OP.

<And this is supposed to be a "thinking" person's shooter. Sigh!.>

There is a simple explanation for what the Raven pilot did - PSR.

As a light pilot, it's all but hopeless to gain PSR on a loss (okay, that was a bit of an exaggeration, but still. Match score being so tightly bound to damage done really hurts light 'mechs), whereas on a win you are all but guaranteed to not drop in PSR.

So, an alternative to the RVN pilot being a derp is that he was just ensuring he got a win and didn't drop in PSR.

In that case, it's not the fault of the game mode per se, but a fault of the PSR system.

If said raven pilot was so worthless as to do zero damage when we're clearly winning an epic brawl with the ENTIRE team yelling at him to stop he should absolutely drop in PSR. Lights are my favorite mechs. I get the psr and cbill issues they have to deal with. But this kid was something special in the world of trolls.

One true sign of bad is blaming the enemy when they cap you. Just take your medicine and move on. You can also maybe learn from it but that might be asking too much.

I moved to the Philippines and my ping to North America is 350 and Europe is 450. I play on Oceanic where my ping is about 40. There isn't much if a community out here, mostly the Australians. At peak times the wait can be as little as a few minutes but 10 at night or noon it's more like 20. That's with conquest removed, I'm used to playing in a unit and I just can't handle pugs scattering the way they do on conquest. Or fighting when they should cap. I just can't handle it.

That sucks man. I wouldn't ever play a game with that wait time.

Think of it another way. You wanted to win by killing off the enemy and racking up the loot. The Raven, on the other hand, just wanted to win.

That's the difference between being a farmer and a winner.

I keep all modes checked because they usually play the same and it makes match searching a lil bit quicker.

Unless I'm mistaken, you need a match score in excess of 400 to not drop in PSR on a loss, whereas you need to be sub-100 on a win for your PSR to drop (if the forum theorycrafting is correct, the cut-offs are 100, 250, 400 match score).

Perhaps he thought he couldn't make a 400 score (I know I can struggle with that in some of my lights) and wouldn't chance a loss.

Is that really "trolling"?

I get that it was a sure way to win. Myself I play this game to shoot stuff with my stompy tank robot. I'm not really a farmer either. I prefer my Mist Lynx and it has to be the hardest mech to rack up damage in. I just hate wasting a good fight on a base cap. I'm all for strategy, I wish there was some more chess in this game. I hate the laser boat meta. It was just such an epic fight to waste. I still managed 600+ damage and 400+ points because I brought my cheesy carry timber. It was just such a rare good fight to waste. Sigh....

Of course the enemy will say "stop capping and fight" but when your entire team is pleading for you to stop capping because it's an incredible brawl that were going to win and you just sit there capping.... That's pretty trollish. I'm a team player in this team game and I'd go with the team on that one.

I'm not saying what he did was the right thing to do, I'm just offering an alternative explanation to him being a 'tard or a troll. You said that when he started capping you were only in the lead by one 'mech, and when the cap ended you were 6 v 8 left. That's a match that can go any which way, and if he was just out to secure the win he might have thought it too risky to let you fight and lose.

Personally, I'd have stopped capping and joined the fun, but I'm not overly obsessive about my PSR, KDR, WLR or any other stat. Perhaps he was.

You're right. In America I left everything checked and just rolled with it. But on the Oceanic server that one crap game where both sidse walk past each other is just a waste of a 20 minute wait. It sucks whether you win or lose. I just hope this game catches on now that there's an Asia server and we get more players. There's so much robot crap in these countries I don't see how it isn't the most popular thing ever.

Well, I'm exactly the player the OP is complaining about. I was not nicknamed "Troublemaker" for nothing. <maniacal   >

I bet you're the kind of pilot that plays the objectives on both Conquest and Assault. You lousy, low-down, son of a so-and-so... How dare you go for the primary objectives!

Everyone knows it's more profitable to smash 12-23 'mechs to smoking heaps of scrap metal. What was that old BT tag-line again? "Save the meat, kill the metal"?

;)

I skimmed a good bit, but it seems like the Tier 1 players are complaining about not being able to form a plan/execute a plan to NOT lose to base rush, and the Tier 3/4's are saying "try something different, defend!"

That strikes me as curious.

(I have all modes and all servers checked... shame on blue team if red team wins by primary objective!)

I don't uncheck any game type. I'll just take what matches I get and run with it.

You're right. Those are primary objectives. And these really aren't bad game modes. They're just bad game modes for the solo que. There's just so rarely any teamwork.

Drag race to red base. Never even see a red mech. Camp for 10 seconds with 2 other fast lances. Game over. Assault mechs get nada.

Waste...

Also ...

EXTREMELY RARE ...

It might happen once a night, twice if you are on a really long time.
