So just played tourmaline a couple times tonight aannnnnndd it wasn't pretty.

Did they drastically change spawn points around? It seemed like within 2 minutes of the drop, there were a horde of lights, mediums and heavies that had squeezed themselves between our heaviest lance and the other two lances. For at least two of the drops I had.

And it's not like we weren't moving to form up. We just got cut off way faster than we had ever been cut off before. Has anybody else noticed a drastically reduced contact time in tourmaline, where one can usually expect a decently large time before any contact is made?

You need to tell us the team's spawning side, and starting locations of each lance of your team in those matches. And modes, cause spawn locations for modes are different.

Oooh game changer. I didn't realize spawn points were different for different modes. The first time we got separated was either assault or skirmish, the second time it was bad the mode was conquest.

Unfortunately I can't say which of the three spawns I was in for either. Next time I drop on tourm I will take note. For now, has anybody else experienced unusually fast contact times or is it just me or just the group I dropped against was really fast?

Honestly curious about this.

Sometimes the Assault lance gets the far spawn, and the enemies light spawn close to them. If the time doesn't regroup quickly bad things can happen

Guess you haven't played in awhile?
Welcome to a land where the new acceptable speed limit is exactly 89.1kp/h*

Enjoy your stay

*Minimum speed of most Clan mechs

Yeah, in public matches, despite my love of huge crushing assaults (I love my DWF!) I generally don't take anything slower than 80kph any more. Not that I get left alone(I'm moving the instant I hit the ground), but depending on who spawns where you absolutely may find yourself engaged very quickly if they push. It's not an opposing light lance that's so much a problem as the mid-wieght lance. At ~90kph, a pack of TBR/EBJ/SCR can be on your assault lance seconds into the match.

And this has nothing to do with NASCAR, but a simple hard push at match start to try to isolate and gank the more distant spawn. Assault on HPG is notorious for this.

Oh boy just got tourm for the first time in a little bit (honestly surprised I got it at all again).
BUT
I spawned on the H3 side. Not sure if that was the exact spawn point but that was the side I spawned on. Once again it was almost immediate enemy contact. Maybe this is a side effect of the quicker (and deadlier) heavies that have been pushed out by PGI without remorse, but I'm also pretty sure that the scenery I saw when dropping was not the same as what I saw a couple weeks ago.

Either way: I accept that heavies are the new assaults (quicker, SLIGHTLY less armor but basically the same firepower). The queue percentages support this theory.
Also, maybe assaults have a tougher time moving toward the rest of the team assuming the rest of the team is the super-speed heavies and mediums who run to the nice positions immediately.

Conquest and Assault spawns on Tourmaline are a joke.

Conquest More-so, when the assault or heavy lance gets stuck out in the middle of nowhere with no cover in either direction, its pretty much GG right there.

It would be nice to see the spawn points in the Drop Preparation screen. Even better would be to get to pick your spawn locations.
