I enjoy the game and look forward to iic mechs, but I sympathize with this thread.

Mcgral's recent balance thread was coherent and looked very reasonable. Then they release their own versions of balance for the public tests and it seems like nonsense. In the same vein, CW as it is seems like a bit of nonsense. The decisions on UI seem like nonsense.

Credit to PGI for making a beyond excellent hire in Alex Iglesias. Credit to them for an enjoyable tutorial - that gave me good feelings.

The thing is they're so close. So close to decent balance. Not as close to good CW, but I bet all the pieces of greatness exist already scattered around the forums. Close to a better business model.

And I want to give them money for so many things: custom hangars, custom mech geometry, letting me hero-fy standard mechs to give them the 30% c-bill boost. They don't seem interested in any of it.

Still my favorite game. **** it.

My brother and I have been wanting to hero-fy our favorite mechs for a long time, I would pay real money for being able to do that.

Win some lose some, either way its fun. What's wrong with this game is all the whine in the forums more than anything else.

I have become much happier in recent days using my missle brawlers. I had to make the switch from regular SRMs to Streak SRMs because hitreg on the regular SRMs is piss poor which is extremely unfortunate, but since the change I've been having really fun brawling matches again. This also helps that I'm using clan mechs for my streak builds as well (using the TBR so I can have some backup lasers for when the missles are on cooldown.)

I will say I hope that the 4v4 / 8v8 sees a return soon because I had MUCH more fun playing smaller man matches than 12v12 zergfest.

PGI has been around with (AFAIK) the same management for about 15 years now, though only what, 5 years working on MWO? So you can't really say it's inexperience at this point.

Yes, inexperienced when it comes to producing a game of this scope (or the scope originally promised). Look at their past titles...
https://en.m.wikiped...i/Piranha_Games

Basically they had experience making fishing games and handling ports of titles to different gaming platforms. When you take that history into account, yes I believe they are inexperienced when it cones to making a game like MWO with the large scope that it had. They just bit off more than they could chew because they didn't fully understand what they were getting into.

This isn't a knock or a jab at PGI. I always believe they are trying to deliver the best they can (or atleast what they feel is the best), but I don't think they were fully prepared for what a game like MWO entitles and how much work it would take to even get remotely close to what they originally said they were going to do.

I am having fun and am reasonably satisfied with the progress they have made. I want more, much more but with time I think they will continue to deliver. It is still the most fun I have gaming.

I am enjoying the game quite a lot.
Still wish that there would be more to CW buts that's about it.

I do believe that balance is far from perfect, especially IS/Clan, but it doesn't prevent me from having a lot of fun.

However, I do find a significant part of the community so negative that it spoil part of the "out-of-mech" experience. Most people's are engaged, but quite a few are confusing being honest and engaged with being frustrated naysayers. I guess it's just the Internet :)

Re-reading a number of posts in the thread, I'm noticing a fairly direct correlation between how long a player has been a member / how recent a user they are and their level of enjoyment and lower expectation threshold.

What I kinda find a little suspect is when I see relatively new players grousing over promised and long missed pillar tenants like they've been here from the start. How do you miss something ya never had?

Having fun too.

I like the progress which had happened during the last year, stuff takes time, true, but then, i remember how Blizzard had this "nice" in the far Future Feaure list back after World of Warcrafts release, which included stuff like:

Hero Classes
Siege Engines in Battlegrounds

and so forth...

and i remember it took them UNTILL Wrath to implement it.

Same here really, things take a LOT of time, but you can clearly see the progress.

Matches feel better FAR better then before 3/3/3/3

be it CW or Random drops, (allways PUGin it) i never feel entirely stomped/helpless, yeah there are bad matches with bad results, but there are games where you win by the same margin, it evens itself out.

Yep.

But I still won't buy a mech until they un-nerf gauss rifles.

This is a joke, right? You do realize that gauss rifles are still one of the best weapons in the game?

I know, but they went about nerfing it wrong and they know it. The sole reason it was nerfed was due to jump-snipers and firing it with lasers for maximum damage to one spot. It's /stupid/ that they added a charge up solely because of that.

What they should have done is if its fired within 2 seconds of any other weapon is to half the speed, range and damage of the gauss round. If fired first, then others weapons get a slight delay on charge.

It's a common occurrence.

You can't always believe what you read on the internet.

Except this is, you know, incorrect.

They implemented charge to desync it from other projectile weapons and make it harder to use up close. It kind of succeeded at #1 and definitely succeeded at #2.

Totally wrong, you must not have been here when it was nerfed. It was 100% nerfed due to jump sniping 2xgauss 2x(insert laser weapon).
