Depends on the loadout. I run some builds as primarily fire support, others using a single LRM launcher for some long-range ability within a primarily direct-fire build, and some things in between.
In general I'd carry a couple tons from a single LRM-15 or LRM-20, maybe five tons for a sustained-fire build with 40-45 tubes of those slower-firing launchers.
For a single LRM-5 or LRM-10 I might go as light as a single ton, maybe 3-4 tons with builds using 20-30 tubes of those faster-firing launchers. It varies by the 'mech and how I'm using it.
I think also, in addition to having more shots/tube on faster-firing launchers, I tend to have proportionately heavier ammo loads on mechs that have somewhat better mobility. If I can run and skirmish for longer during the match, and can engage and disengage, I'll burn through more LRMs before closing in. If I don't have that mobility, more often I'll expect that the fight will come to me before I can use up lots of ammo, even using bigger launchers. I know that's the opposite of how some people like to run assault LRM-boats, but its always worked better for me. (I also tend to try to conserve shots for good locks, and stick fairly close to the main battle line for protection, which probably makes a difference as well).
