The Kitfox got some of that but is much the same as it ever was.

I run mine on a similar build, with 3 erML. It's support is very helpful in early tiers where LRMs are a factor.

Some 'Mechs are pretty untenably bad. I like piloting a few of them, but there are limits.

some Mechs are easier to use than others, but I can be very effective with a Commando or SDR-5V (which, in my opinion, is way better than the SDR-A, and is the absolute most fun Mech in the game to pilot) if you are talking damage output then yes the SDR-5D, SDR-5K, any Jenner, any Raven, any Arctic Cheetah or Firestarter will put out more damage than the SDR-5V or any Commando however the 5V is the ultimate distraction Mech. Wth the size increase for most Lights the Commando is now tiny and thus evades damage better than the other Lights except the Locust (which I cannot use because I really hate the bad cockpit visibility).
if you define the worth of a Mech by its damage potential then yes the listed Mechs are "bad" but every Mech has its advantages, yes most people will have an easier time dealing damage in certain Mechs than the ones you mentioned but that does not make them bad, just misunderstood.

Yes, sadly, that is the only objective in MWO. So, yes those mechs are bad.
Arguing otherwise is like saying you can win the Indy500 with a gokart.

The ultimate command support scouting anti-infantry mech!
Dont you dare tell me there are no bad mechs! If you put your mind it, you can do anything!!!

I love both Kit Fox and Vindicators despite their reputation for being "bad" mechs.
I thought i would like the Cheetah more than the Kit Fox because of the extra speed.
But when i bought the Cheetah i discovered that the small tonnage available for weapons gimped me. The Kit Fox still outperforms everything else in my garage.
I put ER PPC, 1 ERML, 1ERSL and 4xMG's along with JJ's and ECM in that Kit Fox. A jack of all trades that can adapt to any situation no matter what it is.
Guess what....it actually works.

"Kit Carson" has the jump jets and he is a sniper. He carries a PPC, 4 MGs, 3 AMS and just one ton of ammo. His heat management is 162/2 so I sometimes take off the AMS and add back two SPL.
The last one, "Fox Fire" is my jack of all trades.
AMS normally only shines during Quick Play although over the last few days I've seen LRMs used in invasions etc. Yesterday I got to watch a teammate with a 3 AMS Kit Fox work and it was hard not to watch, lol.
My Jenner II's are more true lights. And I have the Viper on the way. But I really miss having the ECM.
One interesting/odd thing you need to master to play this as a support mech is to learn to watch the legs of the bigger mechs so they can back up or move etc.

Well, it is anything I need it to be at that moment. I have more than all of the Omnipods I need. And the Kit Fox is one of the very few Clan Mechs with quirks.
I tend to keep the missile Omnipods for this one. I also use him for just trying out things. I just looked and he has the Clan Probe and 4 MGs. An ECM and a Flamer in his right arm. And two C-ER LLs in his left for a powerful, long range punch that does not bring the attention of a PPC.
He is my Narc Mech, and his Omnipod missile arms have quirks for Narcing like +50 range and +10 duration. And small ones for LRMS/SRM etc. And machine gun rate of fire. I keep the right ECM arm for Narcing. I find that having ECM is important to Narcing and living. In his left arm, I carry a Narc and a Streak 6 to fight off other lights.
One crazy thing a Kit Fox can do is to run towards and kill an IS LRM boat. If it has made the mistake of not carrying any lasers, it is screwed. If I find one alone I just rush it at full speed. With my ECM and radar Drep it is hard for it to lock on me. Most of the missile fall behind me and I shoot the rest of them down. For this, my weapons will be 4 MGs, a Flamer, and 2 SPL.
I just remade him into a SplatFox with 4 x SRM6's. I can also do 4 x Streaks 6 but with less ammo, if I keep the MGs and Jump Jets. (I'm not big on Jump Jets)
I have other "faster" lights now and it is a wake-up call after playing a mech that never had to worry about missiles. Now I find myself running and dodging a lot.

ROFLMAO, wot m8? That thing turns like a bus, and is the size of a cicada with zero structure buffs. You look at it too hard and it breaks apart, and you really think that just 'cause ONE VARIANT can alpha srms twice before dying it is remotely similar to the Cheetah?
