The changes that were made to bonus and match score really help. I think it was the biggest positive to date. If you use anything but kills and dmg as your success matrix, real Light roles are fairly profitable. I am always grinding new mechs, so cb mean a lot more than bragging rights.
My opinion it was what was really missing from the game. Only a few lights are really dangerous in the hands of average pilots, fighting and capping were pretty well the only thing to do in pugs or low pay off scouting in cw, or the occasional light rush, actually hate those.
We still have a ways to go but we have real reasons to bring lights now, other than back shooting king Crabs.
The promise of a 4v4 scouting mode is promised. Hope it will get us there. Might put together a unit just for it.
I had a match today that was a perfect example. Threw a seismic and sensor range on a stock ecm PB with weapons mods, uav and airstrike. Mining Collective/Skirmish and the enemy was running a good lrm+jj spotter game. We had 4 ecm but I ended up alone at Theta trying to keep all our fatties hidden while everyone else flanked their boats with 3 ecm. When they pushed in on us it got a bit nuts being in a locust with 2 lances+ of fatties fighting in a box. We broke the push and I went scouting the perimeter taking pot shots usually out of sml/mg range. Never popped a consumable. Was afraid of our lurmers firing into a cqc mess. We won by 5.
4KA 110dmg 246,000cb. Don't remember xp, mech is mastered so didn't look.
That's not bad. I got 2 arms 3 Saviors and 7 flanking, can't recall the rest.
Been having luck with my Raven 3L, true Ewar with a bite 2srm6, 2ml, tag, seismic, sensor range, ecm, uav and airstrike. A lot more punch and armor lets me add light killer to the duties, usually a kill or two a match. Spend most of the early game taking point finding where they all are and are going. Then I protect my assaults while feeding them targets to kill. When I spot a them trying to cut us off I love to sit inside our escape route, hiding behind a corner so I can perfectly smack anyone who turns the corner. Rarely ever under 300k cb
Spider 5D feels pretty un affected haven't checked the quirks but its a lil bonus earner to. Ewar gear ecm do light stuff, small dmg and big cb.
My Woulfhounds, well, scouting was never their strong point, no jj no ecm 2 mech slots mastered. But they run and gun with any light in the game. Even a scout lance needs a brawler. They had little quirks and well kinda pissed how slow they rotate accel decel. Took a bit out of them but it did the same to the competition.
I already sold off some assaults and mediums to make room for lights I wanted, don't want to buy mc. Tough choices ahead.
