Russ again mentioned the Timber Wolf Hero 'Mech in the recent Town Hall and the difficulty getting it out. Here is my humble suggestion:

For me, a Jade Falcon loyalist since I started playing BattleTech, Aidan Pryde's Timber Wolf is the perfect Clan Hero OmniMech. Basically it is a Timber Wolf - Prime with the machine guns removed to add jump jets. The selling point of this OmniMech will be the hardpoints on the OmniPods, which in my opinion, should only be available only if you buy the Hero OmniMech, but once the Hero 'Mech is purchased those pods can be interchangeable between other Timber Wolves. If that is not enticing enough, the perhaps adding the option of mounting ECM in the Center Torso or adjusting the Quirks.

As for the skin/paint job I figure there are two options. First is to go with BattleTech Lore and give it the "official" Jade Falcon Gamma Galaxy paint job of camouflage trimmed with jade green. An example of which can be seen here: http://camospecs.com...6_wackJFGBL.JPG The second -- and as a Lore Fan it pains me a little to say this -- and better skin would be the Delta Galaxy paint job Ironhawk did a while back. Seen here: https://atlashunters...by_ironhawk.jpg This should have been the Jade Falcon faction skin, but would be a very fitting Hero Skin.

I think the hero Mad Cat should be Vlad Ward... although he is a jerk it really is the first Mad Cat the Inner Sphere sees. I vote no to ECM simply for the fact that I am of the opinion that only 'mechs that come equipped with ECM or are notated to have advanced equipment should have the option. Your build I like based on the similarities to a Prime but am only eh on the jump jets...

See you out there,

- Cargo

I like the idea of Vlad Ward's Timber Wolf being the Hero Timber Wolf and the reason, but I cannot find anything in Lore that says he piloted anything but the standard Timber Wolf variants. Aidan Pryde's variant is different, and I added hardpoints to make the JJ torsos different than the S torsos we already have. Putting aaballistic and energy hardpoint adds to the Hero 'Mechs flexible while allowing it to mount the ER Small Laser of DOOM!!!™ that is the ''Mech signature final weapon in the novels.

I am willing to concede the ECM. There's no reason for it, I just added it to make buying the 'Mech more enticing. Putting it in the Center Torso made it so that the equipment was tied to that 'Mech.

Vlad Ward's Hero 'Mech should be the dual Gauss Executioner he piloted against Phalen Kell or the Warhawk in which he killed Vandervahn Chistu.

And doing more research I have come to realize you have given the loadout for the Pryde configuration... Having never really been a Clan player I only used some salvaged omnis for my games which usually ended up being a mash of whatever the techs could put back together.

I am guessing that Aidan's Mad Cat is the only logical choice seeing as how the other two notable pilots are both from the Inner Sphere and would not be timeline appropriate. As far as Vlad's Gladiator, I do not think it played a significant enough role and it was a one-time deal when he used it, specifically to try and kill Phelan.

Since you are one of the Jade Falcons what about Joanna's Loki or Horse's Thor? I believe Joanna also had a Vulture after Twycross and she was in a Thor during her battle with Natasha Kerensky. I know a lot of die-hard Jade Falcon true-borns would have some issues with both of those picks though.

To be completely honest, the ONLY reason why I don't like Pryde is that its a Jade Falcon, and not a Wolf name..

For me, a Timberwolf hero should be a TimberWOLF hero..

Other than that, Pryde sounds awesome... And the hero Timberwolf in unimaginable without jumpjets..

So, to make a compromise and include both clans in the name, I nominate the Hero Mech's name be: "Ward's Pryde" or "Pryde's Ward"

Alternatively, the Heromech's name should not be Lore-based, so it can be something like "The Predator", "Cerberus" "Warhog", "Hunter" "Deadshot" "" or simply "Bad Fluffy"

The Build should be 2 x LRM20 + 2 x CERLL + 3 x ERSL+Jumpjets + Heat quirks to stop gross overheating.

Personally I think it should be TBR-PRYDE. Joanna and Horse, and even Marthe Pryde seem to use stock variants of their signature OmniMechs. The Summoner Joanna used against Natasha Kerensky was a Prime, but I guess a Summoner-Joanna could have flamers on the legs and a Jump Jet bonus in the quirks. :-D

I think TBR-PRYDE is the way they should go and call it a Timber Wolf - Pryde. Lore fluff states that Clan warriors typically find naming 'Mechs silly. In fact Joanna says as much in "Bloodname" even though she named her Hellbringer "Ter" out of spite for past commander.

PGI can give the Kit Fox (a Falcon 'Mech) and the Dire Wolf to the Wolves as Hero 'Mechs. The Kit Fox - Ward/Kell can use Phalen Kell's Kit Fox build (the first OmniMech he used in the Clans) with 2x ER Large Lasers and 2x Medium Pulse Lasers. Also the Dire Wolf - Widowmaker would make a perfect Clan Wolf Hero 'Mech since they are already releasing Natasha Kerensky's Warhammer, it would be cool to have her Dire Wolf too.

I agree with the Widowmaker idea, but still.. Timber Wolf is an Iconic WOLF mech.. the Wolf is even in the name, and If I'm not mistaken, the TBR was produced almost exclusively by CLAN WOLF. Only through gifts, trade and battlefield salvage did the Timberwolf enter the other clans..

So it would not do it justice for the first Clan Hero AND the Timberwolf Hero to be named after a heroic Jade Falcon.

In fact.. I'm strongly leaning to NOT name the first clan hero of the most iconic clan mech (and arguably the most iconic mech in the BT franchise) after any one lore hero..

It deserves a newly crafted, equally iconic Hero name.
