Mission Types with Unit Restriction?

Instead of a one size fits all 12v12 match over and over - have different match types that can result in different things. And yes, I know I am borrowing alot of these ideas.
like:
-Patrol/Scout 4v4 Lights/Mediums - No faction benefit, just a lance v lance match (low ranked players)
-Raid 4v4 Lights/mediums only - Can result in a small amount of resources gained if attacking faction succeeds
-Skirmish 8v8 Up to Heavies - Faction Influence
In addition to the normal 12v12 matches...

Was not trying to imply that its low skill - merely a way for players to break in.
Lights being used like they are meant to be used - as scouts/raiders.

I am reminded of some of the fight sizes in Battletech 3025 that EA was beta testing years ago but then cancelled.

We used to do it in MBT, but it takes balancing of more then just tonnage.
In a 12v12 one life only match, an organized 12 person team will dominate the other team made up of public players not communicating. However, an unorganized 4 person lance will at least have a chance against the organized one.
Thats just my thinking.
Also, I am really excited to get back to some balanced vehicle combat.

Plus, have varying weather and lighting conditions. Makes matches less repetetive.

I like this.
You mean like have a defending team responsible for a couple of different locations and allowing the attacking team to choose their drop point?
That would be awesome. Awesome to the max.

Stable must play in game to build up their funds for purses, fees for stadium use, registration etc..but not repairs. Various types of rewards can be configured such as an agreement to fight 'All or Nothing', which means the Stadium gives winner the purse and repairs plus the equivalent cost in C-bills of repairing the Losers mechs - Losers have to pay for their own repairs.
Additionally, the matches could be announced to all players in-game and they could opt to attend the match as observers using the same cockpit switching observation found in WOT. Most of the systems for this are already in game (remember - if you are killed in a match you can switch your view around to other mechs on your side while waiting) and I think additional coding would be straightforward and simple (comparatively). Bets could be made (gasp - gambling). Think of the Houses, Merc Corps and...Stables.

Exactly this. From my knowledge about mapmaking it would be fairly easy to achieve too. The map would just have to be big enough, with four or five suitable landing zones. Imagine this in a sandstorm or in fog. You'd have something like this on comms:
"Bravo Leader, this is Bravo Scout, approaching NAV Gamma. Seems to be all Clear... No Wait...................................FREEBIR *static*"
