So over the weekend, I helped my 9 year old son grab the Adder-Prime. He loves the ER-PPC but he as you can imagine having a challenge managing the heat build up. So, I suggested we make a few changes, give me your thoughts on this....

Instead of the 2xER-PPC I swapped for 2xCLPLs. If I was reading correctly,5 less hat per weapon an 3 more damage for reduced range. Correct me if I am wrong here please. I as swapped out the C-Flamer for an CER-Small.

Should I drop the MK III TC and add 3 more heatsinks? His second match with it he survived the we time and provided ample support for his team mates.

Also, the community has been wonderful knowing there is a youngster on their team. Thank for that!

Thank you,
Fulga

Downgrade the TCIII to a TCI and add two DHS. One small Laser dosn't seems to make sense so i would drop it and get more armor. Or drop it and reduce some armor for an extra DHS.
And yeah, i like the LrgPls much more than PPC's, not only because they run cooler.

Yes.

I only really put a TC in my mechs when I don't have the crit slots to put a heatsink in there.

I really like my Adders. The twin PPC´s are a tad more difficult to use then the other builds but it´s a really good hill humper. I run mine like that:

You get the high side torso mounts and the quirks from the arm Omnipods. Together with the TC you get quite accurate.

My best achieving build is that one:

I poke with the Torso mounted guns, the arm mounted ones are for dogfighting, UAVs and to alpha. That 40 point alpha can cripple most mechs. I like the CAP + TC + Target Info Gathering for instant Target Data to place my shots wisely.

Generally speaking it is a matter of taste if you want TC and CAP on your mechs. The only one I use a bigger TC than TC1 though is a Warhawk. The CAP can be handy to disrupt ECM and i find in Pugs it makes you more selfreliant and allows you to better assist your team.

DarthHias,

Obviously, we are running lights, how does the lack of any back armor affect your Adder?

As for the advice on the TC, I am thinking of dropping it ad the er-small for more heat sinks and armor :)

Thank,
Fulgar

Ah sorry, of course my armor is distributed but I don´t do it in Smurfy :)

Yes the TC is really a matter of taste. Some prefer the cooling and some the range / zoom / crit chance etc. In my opinion the bigger the mech the easier it is to find one ton to ad one.

Try something like this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...454ca3625c21f1b

And just tell him to torso twist to protect his right arm, because it keeps him cool. Shoot, turn, shoot, turn. It's a nice introduction to shielding without it being a total loss if you screw up and lose the good arm. =]

Works fine if you swap in the ERPPCs instead too, of course.

You could also try giving him an SRM build - Splat-Adders are pretty easy to play, all you need is a little bit of patience and understanding that you can't shoot things that are far away.

Another thing the Adder does well is big gun + lazors. It has decent quirks for Ultra AC´s (Jam reduction) and LBX (spread reduction) You can do something like that:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c8754dcf869c865

Ultra 10 gives some nice DPS and the Medlasers are good for hill humping.

Bigger gun:

More of a fun build but hits like a truck ^^

Gauss:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d17caabf29e922b

Be patient and take accurate shots with the gauss.

LBX for the lulz:

I always mount my ballistic on the left arm cause I´m lefthanded :P
