Earning resources in this game is quite grindy with a painfully slow progress especially for new players. With an event going like the current Halloween event that gives out some bonus playing the game feels much more rewarding.

So I wondered why this game does not have some sort of daily quest system. Other F2P games use such daily quests with great success. The advantages are numerous like helping out new players and casuals, encouraging players to play the game for a couple of games each day thus boosting player numbers outside of peak times, encouraging players to try play a mode/mech they usually do not play increasing variance ('Win X Conquest game', 'Win X games as a light/medium/... mech').

Rewards for the daily quests could be handled similar to the current event: Players get one ticket for each completed daily which at random give some CB, MC, GXP, Mechbay, Premium Time and so on with a small chance on some cool grand prize like a free mech.

You saw how people freaked out over having a simple requirement of carrying yourself for this event.

Many of those same people refuse to work as a part of a team so they end up on 30+ loss streaks - meaning they will freak out over winning as a mission goal.

Basically all you could use would be coddling goals - low match scores, get an assist, score 50-100 damage, log in, play through a match - because so much of the population totally disregards the fact that this is a team game right off the top. Teamwork is the OP meta that they refuse to be a part of, and as long as PGI is willing to cave to them every time they complain, there will be no chance of meaningful missions or better game play.

The dailies should be balanced to take about half an hour to maybe an hour for an average skilled casual player. PGI has all the data to determine the proper amount of requirements for completing these quests.

Naturally implementing daily quests will not solve all the games problems. It will not suddenly turn everyone into highly skilled team players. But that is not the goal. The goals are to make the game more attractive for the average casual player, to boost player number outside of the peak times and to add more variance to the games and assuming that succeeds I think this would be a big win for the game.

The average casual player is also the same set of people that can't be bothered to learn to play the game on a level that is any deeper than CoD - shoot and fire. That is why they freak out at the notion of having to actually earn anything.

You'd have to set the bar so low to make these people happy that it is an insult to anyone that actually took or takes the time to learn how to play the game.

Just make the daily quests achievable only in a Victory. Players will have to contribute, then.

And that is not a bad thing. It is just dailies. It will get more people playing every day, something MWO's MM is in dire need of.

this could even be based on the achievement system. fun things, like "pheonix down" - kill a <insert-popular-mech-here> or get X damage with weapon Y.

Get assists, fly 120m, get a kill from behind... such stuff.

Daily quest should be easy, fun and short. Those are teasers to play at least one round so they shouldn't be hard to get.

"Get 400 matchscore" is not a daily. it is a boring grind for a little extra.

It's been brought up a few times before and I think its a pretty good idea. It is one of the more effective ways to keep a player invested while beeing easy to implement. 10 to 20 goals and each player gets 2-3 of them a day by the will of RNGesus. It works in Hearthstone so why shouldnt it work here? Only way it could fail is if the rewards would be consumables or single heatsinks.

But then again, we are currently earning to much so consumables it will be.

I would much rather they make anything CW related a weekly goal instead of a daily one.

We already have that.

Ever notice that little x2 in the corner of mech-select?

That is your daily bonus.

Took a lot of posts before someone pointed out we already have dailies.

Not that the couldn't do with something else or more, of course.

Maybe something small, like 2x CBills or loyalty on the first CW win of the day? Just as the next baby step?

Guildwars 2 now has a gift for each day you log in and MWO would do well to recognize the benefit of having dailies.

WoT has a pretty good system that gives out what most people want. Consumables and dosh with the premium tank here and there.

Oh, please - here we ago again with the judgmental, hyper-competitive BS from the self-styled elite of the game.

You can only control your actions in this game - you can't do a dang thing to make the rest of your group magically play like a team. That leaves us with two options:

- Offer reasonable rewards and match payouts based on the fact that most "teams" are really just a bunch of random people who happen to be on the same side in the match.

- Offer dismal payouts for anything less than a great win and then whine and cry about how "everyone else but me sucks at teamwork!" on the forums.

PGI currently seems fine with the second option, and plenty of blowhards seem to agree. Too bad, really, since it's a stupid approach.

They should have a bonus for consecutive days having a match. It doesn't have to be much. Maybe 50,000 C-Bills if you have played a match in each of the last 7 days.

There could also be expanded achievements that rotate. This week it's for KO'ing assaults in lights. It could even be focused on specific mechs, i.e. get x most damage dealt using a Atlas.

Technically not a daily quest. Also it hardly does anything for the game. Proper daily quests with proper reward on the other hand would be an improvement.

1) Does no good if your mechs are maxed out on XP. Theres still no way to convert XP to cbills and there needs to be!

2) Doesnt reward you for logging in consecutive days. The whole point of daily rewards is to keep server population numbers higher by offering incentives to log in and play every day.

The daily double XP that we have now is the barest minimum start. PGI has long needed to offer a bit more serious incentives to boost player count. I'd suggest something like adding double c-bills to the first win bonus. A proper rotating daily quest with fun rewards would be nice, too, perhaps akin to what HotS offers (Marvel Heroes hands you a lot more, but to really do all the daily stuff you pretty much have to play non-stop). Play 3 games in a Light. Win 3 games. Play 2 games in an Inner Sphere mech. Etc.

Seems enough players would be interested in such a Daily Quest system. So what is the best way to bring that to PGI's attention? Ask Russ about it on the podcast? Does PGI even read these forums?
