I think it is the isXL vs cXL imbalance and as such the game will never be properly balanced until this is addressed.

I can see one of two ways to go about it, either buff isXL to Clan standards or nerf cXL to IS standards.

Agree/Disagree and give reasons and/or solutions of your own.

To sum up absolutely everything into a single phrase, it's the stubborn lead devs (e.g. Paul).

This has rippled out to just about every other issue that this game has, including that XL engine disparity (their stubbornness means no changes, or at least not for a fairly long time).

^ What the guys above said.

If PGI devs were a bit smarter and active, they would not have let the poptart meta run for so long during 2013 and 2014--losing a lot of players in the process, and would have fixed the ECM two years ago, and LBX/Flamer would not be in its current sad state for three years.

Then there is the ******* grind. The watered down ******* skill tree that has not been changed after such a ******* false advertisement during the initial phase of the game, with ******* placeholder skill, and ******* "buy three mechs to elite the one you want" design.

Core gameplay mechanics (models are for the most part nice)

I can forgive content... that can all be added later, but if the base game doesn't function properly or consistently well... then what's the point?

Communicating mechanics, rules, and edge-cases the player must understand to be effective. These are often very poorly explained (if at all) though it has gotten a little better with the tutorial.

I'm gonna go with the "minimum viable product" mentality at PGI

This is not a full game, it's a free to play game - but we wanted more (ofc). This is a casual deathmatch minimally-viable product, and does the BattleTech universe practically no justice.

That is the biggest flaw in my opinion.

PGI and more specifically Paul. He needs to go back to school.

trying to appeal to the casual masses

Once they got greedy and lost their identity, it all went downhill.

The rest are just symptoms.

I gotta say, its pin-point accuracy or convergence.

There would be no need for GH, missles would get a indirect boost, brawling would ge a little boost, lights would last a bit longer, assaults would become tanky once again and mechs cursed with bad hit boxes wouldn't suffer as much.

XL vs CLX wouldn't be as big a deal if everyone didn't auto target RT all day every day.

I don't think getting rid of pin-point is a good idea and covergence isn't gonna change tho.

The fact that the community have come up with better CW gameplay (NBT, MRBC) than the game itself.. ..as much as I appreciated CWP3 coming up in the what (next 6 months?), the community creating a gameplay element before the developers do and to do it better than existing content is pretty bad..

Terrible optimization and lack of bugs fixes.

Seriously... the chat box is so badly broken, and has been since at least open beta

Ah, yes:
  • Clan Mechs = IS Mechs
  • Clan Weapons = IS Weapons
  • Clan Equipment = IS Equipment
It's definitely a BattleTech game.

I don't get the xl v xl thing at all, clan tech is advanced and is tech is archaeological rediscovered so an engine made of light weight materials with the same strength of heavy materials makes sense if it occupies more space when compared to advanced materials tech with superior strength without compromising cubic volume.

I always played is regardless and accepted the limitation because it made sense.

Cryengine. It was a huge mistake to develop the game in Cryengine, in my opinion. I think if they'd forked out the cash to license an engine more suited to online multiplayer the game would be in a much better state because they would have been able to focus more on adding features early on than figuring out how to make basic stuff like hit registration work in Cryengine.
