I just realized this will make those events like the one we just had, Trick or Treat, harder to do.

50 matches so far:
Skirmish = 27 <- never vote for
Conquest = 6 <-me likes and allways votes for
Assault = 17 <- if no Conquest then Assault

Frozen City = 13
HPG = 10
Canyon = 8
Crimson = 6
Tourmaline = 5
Mining = 4
Alpine = 2
Bog = 1
River City = 1 (Loading Crash + DC Penalty + rejoined ~5 mins into the match)

Disconnect from Server Message = 2
(What does that mean?)

Got my first DC Penalty when i got stuck on loading and had to reboot bcs Task Manager inaccessible.

Now imagine it with some of the events we had before where it wasn't just match mode, but maps and match mode. No, this whole system is wonky and takes away any random, weapon and heat-based disadvantage/advantage because you will always get cold maps. Definitely time to boat lasers, y'all

no hot maps were played today, on top of that i voted 2 times for viridian never saw it

A really sad day! Just when I was liking the idea that being killed in 30 seconds was ok as long as I was having fun, playing the way that I wanted to. BAM! Now I die in 20 seconds and cannot have any fun playing the way that I want to. Way to go PGI, guess I will be waiting till next patch to see if they take this crap out of the game.

Look. The problem they're trying to "fix" is still there. If you're set up to run cool and want a hot map to have an advantage, you're going to get screwed and be underpowered on a cold map, because ... honestly ... who wants to play Desert (hottest) or Therma (second hottest) or Caustic (third hottest)?

Remove this voting crap. It was much more fun when it was random, honestly.

It also FORCED players to strategize. It made you think about heat management.

Without the random drop aspect, there's no reason for anyone to not boat lasers right now. It has single handedly sucked out all the strategy of Mechlabs.

If mapvote HAS to be the goal moving forward, then I propose the following changes:
  • Players get three choices to choose from.
  • Choice A: Randomly selected map and gamemode, revealed to the players.
  • Choice B: Different randomly selected map and gamemode, revealed to the players.
  • Random: Randomized map and gamemode, HIDDEN from the players until after voting window concludes.
  • Random could be replaced with RE-ROLL, which would simply select two more maps/gamemodes to replace Choice A and B. Players would only be allowed one re-roll per match vote.
This is a time tested mapvote setup used in many popular games. This setup allows players to either vote for one of the two revealed maps, or to vote for a randomized map if they don't like the revealed choices. This way, there is still enough randomization. Without it, loadout strategy is pretty meaningless, and all of us who have been here for years know that is a pretty significant part of the game!


Also, I would like to add that I ACTUALLY REALLY MISS TERRA THERMA RIGHT NOW!!!

I don't understand why we can't choose the game mode we want to play. Map voting I understand, but game mode... what the hell?

Yeah.....I'm reminded of Mechwarrior 3.......everyone boated lasers and cold maps were always chosen. I guess most people were/are too lazy to want to manage their heat or deal with limited ammo.

what's there to understand about map voting? it's a horrible concept and it makes the game worse

Good - laser boats need a buff... wait...

Maybe "ghost damage" will fix this?

Is anyone even awake at PGI anymore? Their decisions have grown increasingly random lately.

As for me, the only time I didn't see Skirmish today was when my mid-sized group was able to troll vote some other random combination to the top. But if we failed at that, it was nothing but Skirmish and the coldest map available. Simplistic idiocy; at least it's minimally viable!

The vote scam has to go. Removing player choice is NEVER THE RIGHT CHOICE. Your cramming me into boring or annoying game modes the ruin the game for me. All so you can pretend there is more than 1 half way finished mode.

The is honestly a quit point for me. I was still squeezing the fun outta the game but this stops that. I love MW. Just make the other game modes FUN so people CHOOSE to run them.

P.S. There is no reason whatsoever to not have all 3 game modes in the vote other than to artificially increase the other game mode numbers. You make options your customers choose. This theory you can force choices on your consumers to make your life easier is the opposite of buisness 101. You make interest options they want or they dont buy your product.

So far, not minding the new system. Maybe implement a system that the more a map is selected, the less it appears as a choice. Keeps other maps alive. I played two matches today, both ended up being HPG. One assault and one skirmish. One was close and one was a roll stomp. One thing that I'd suggest is expand the length of time that the selection is available. It seems that it is a bit too short.

Why the Hell i have to do Skirmish-Nascar with my 53.5 kph Daishi everytime now?!

I play Daishi most of my Matches, its my very most favorite Mech.

- New designed Maps are a Pain with 53.5 kph.
- No Turrets are bad for my Way of Playing
- No Assault-Mode only anymore for me

I dont say i will quit Playing from now on.
I already play 75% less than before. Simply a Fact and one Player less for you in the Matchmaker-Queue, PGI.


btw, Map-Choice looks nice to me, but i always prefered the Choice to deselect two personally most hated Maps for a Player in his Settings.

I only play conquest. Now I really don't have a choice in the matter.

Thanks a lot for forcing me to fight over the stupid I9 mountain on alpine all the time. If I have to do this constantly I will stop playing altogether.

Great... PGI you just took us back to that fk up moment that pist the ENTIRE COMMUNITY OFF awhile back. I don't mind the voting on map input but we get no choice on what mode WE want to mainly play? WTF is wrong with you guys. Are you telling us that we no longer have the choice factor that everyone mainly want kept? makes me glad I didn't buy that P.O.S warhammer package.

You know, one of the best things PGI did was allow pre-drop selection of preferred game modes. I only play Skirmish because I dislike the other two modes. Now, I'm screwed out of that handy option.

Why couldn't that just be left alone? And why couldn't maps be similarly selected (or entirely avoided) by players? Or allow players to pre-rank maps so that their vote could be automatically decided from the available choices, with a "**** it, I'll play anything" option tacked on?

I hope PGI is at least collecting data on how often a map is selected or neglected.

MAP selection = Great

MODE selection = SUX get rid of it

im now forced to play a mode i totally hated ( SKIRMISH )
never had it selected cause it the most lameassed way of playuing this game ..now i have no choice ..
