The Majority Of The Players Do Not Like Visual And Physical Obstructions.

MOST of it is stupid people being tooo oblivious and lazy to pilot their mech properly.
This is because we are in the post-beta dark-era of no-collisions... where every ****** can pilot their mech with no regard for themselves, their enemy or the surrounding terrain.
People these days cant pilot mechs for ****.
The second reason is because we don't have destructables.
Small things to get stuck on are a clipping/destructables issue - namely, we have very few destructables.
If PGI bring back collisions so people LEARN to pilot their mech properly (though they wont because yanks cant do this) and make more destructibles (entirely possible) the issue will be resolved.
Remember, not too long ago another survey on map popularity was done and everyone was favouring close ranged brawl-orientated maps.

That's my impression after the voting results of my last 10 games.
1. Canyon Network, Assault.
2. Frozen City, Skirmish.
3. Frozen City, Skirmish.
4. Tourmaline Desert, Skirmish.
5. Tourmaline Desert, Skirmish.
6. Crimson Straight, Assault.
7. Crimson Straight, Assault.
8. Mining Collective, Skirmish.
9. Tourmaline Desert, Skirmish.
10. Tourmaline Desert, Skirmish.
It is not the heat that drives people away, cause Tourmaline Desert--the hottest non-CW map of MWO--was the most popular one in the last 10 games I played. People just like to see what they are shooting at without tripping on every other pebble they come across.
Skirmish and Assault modes were chosen but Conquest was never voted much. That's pretty funny, as I personally think Assault mode is worse than Conquest, ever since the removal of turrets.
Well people vote for assault when they see skirmihs not working beacsue they know assault is in 95% f the cases still skirmish.
But it's sad, because everyone who likes conquest now hardly can play that mode.

Actually it is Tourmaline and it has always been Tourmaline since it was released. Terra Therma is 95 or 96c and Tourmaline is 97c. Unless smurfy and the map loading screens in game are wrong.

I do use Thermal - but this is a pretty looking modern game, and it looks pretty boring in constant grey scale. A few maps where thermal isnt needed are nice - Polar Highlands, Alpine, Terra Therma and Tourmaline are about all there are right now.
If you aren't using thermal on tourmaline you aren't playing a dangerous enough group. Thermal on tourmaline is scouting made easy.

Two simple changes to objectives and rewards would fix all that.
1. Objective change: You cannot win by kills in conquest or Assault. You must capture the enemy base.
- Reason this will change how the games play because there is no longer a reason to go to the middle of the map and pewpewpew, because you can lose by refusing to guard your base. And no, don't bring back turrets to surround the base. Put them in a wide ring around the base no closer than 2 grids so it forms a picket.
2. You do not get XP or CBills for kills or damage in Conquest and greatly reduced payouts for the same in assault. Killing mechs is a means to the end and true reward of winning by cap.
And before some people say it, Yes this is deliberate to wreck your unthinking brawltardery gameplay. Yes it is to lower your income if you cannot figure out a better way to win. No I don't care if you think nobody will fight or is bored. Learn to protect your base. You can't win without doing that, and therefore, DEFEND as well as attack!
You need to step up your quality of play.
- if rewards are lower and killing the whole enemy team yeilds lower payouts. Could also institute a Cbill penalty for killing the whole of the enemy team to emphasize that mechs are valuable and preferred to be captured undamaged.
Of course, R&R fixes much of this too. So does Mode voting which should be removed anyway.

so what you add respawns?
or you just lose if you completely kill the other team?

Nope. You gotta waste time and go sit on caps till captured. Thats all. To the Ritalin crowd that's hell on earth. Probably wouldn't hurt to make capping take longer too.
"Congrats, you've eliminated all enemy resistance. Now go do the objective your superior ordered you to do." That's what the mode's supposed to be simulating after all.
