This gives me time to play my other games or, better yet, do other things.

And for those with their "democracy" rant: it is not democracy if the majority tells you to shut up (like in mediaeval times, when scientists were burnt because people hated them). We have the right to play other maps, and this right will not hurt anyone, (2-minute waiting time? I have seen games with 1-2 hours of waiting time for one15-minute minigame)...

Obviously based on your tier you havnt been playing as much as most of us have. The general problem most players are seeing is we get NO CHOICE on game modes. Choices is what made this game viable. We had this problem before awhile back and it was very nasty. PGI and staff made a bonehead decision in closing out options from the players not to mention it wasnt tested in PTS. To make a long story short. PGI got bitched at so bad by the community who didnt like the changes in CLOSING options in regards of game modes. Thus came the hot fix back to keeping the choices open.
Think of the halloween event we had recently for example. Would you hate it if you couldnt get a choice to play a specific mode to getting those points needed to earn those bags at all? I would imagine you wouldnt like it if this P.O.S system was in effect during that event time and it would cause massive complaints and im sure everyone would agree in NOT wanting to seeing that happen in a future event right? Better think carefully kids.
I just hate how we have people in their department who never test these things out first in the PTS when it shouldve been. Sad the PTS version right now still has options open on gamemodes, but i know most people dont like whats been going on in that version either.

also, game mode vote is a terrible idea because people are lazy and will always pick the least effort option (i.e. skirmish or assault if the former's unavailable).
so yeah, not a bad idea in itself but it seems PGI didn't take the human factor into account.

Seriously, I can't imagine that this result was not foreseen. It was obvious that with a voting mechanism only the favourite maps would be played over and over and over again.

I am sick and tired of River City. Out of the last ten matches i played, 7 were River city. And you can forget about non-skirmish game modes. This is game-breaking.
Solution? Vote on 2 randomly selected maps instead of four (one of which is inevitably always river city, otherwise frozen city or mining collective. I can't even remember what the other maps looked like.) This should work to change it up a bit - for instance the only time i get a non-skirmish games is when the kids are forced to choose between the other two.

i seriously doubt any REAL critical thought went into this.

which is exactly what russ will do, and he will wonder why the hell the game suddenly lost its founders, lost its long standing clients and now is being fed by people with the attention span of a flea which will inevitably cause this game to fail.

I was one of those strange people that actually enjoyed Terrible Therma simply BECAUSE it was hot as hades, and you had to manage your heat.
I was one of those strange people that actually enjoyed Alpine in a brawler, because I'd talk the team into doing something OTHER than suicidally charging Sniper Hill.
This new voting system lets people basically pick the map that suits their build. So, no thinking required to somehow use your optimized build in a non-optimal situation.
This was all predicted way back when people first put suggestions in for being able to pick maps. And at the time, it was pointed out that people would just choose the same map over and over, using the same build over and over.
So, good-bye customization in MWO. Just load all the Lazors, and pick Frozen City for the twelfth time tonight....

I think you are being exceptionally conservative, but scary none the less. Proves Russ isn't thinking or giving a damn.
