Gloowa and Pyroth let me let you in on a little known to you apparently business saying, that has, in fact, proven far more accurate than most people like: For every ONE person who vocally complains about a service or product, there are ten THOUSAND more who are equally angered or irritated but do not speak up."
Those who, like you, call us the minority are the mouth breathing dipsticks who refuse to learn how to do more than treat this game like an over grown Call of Duty. I am sorry you are to naive to understand this, or perhaps its blatant refusal, as the current system finally is bowing to your lowest common denominator branch of shoot anything and everything, to hell with the objectives and to hell with those who WANT said objective bottom feeding mewling quim tossers. SO crawl back into your cesspits will ya.

2) There are a lot of folks who don't mind the voting system. I generally like it ... however, I think it needs some adjustments.
3) Neither side of this discussion has ANY idea which side is the minority and which the majority. At the moment they seem about equal but those who dislike it are being far more vocal since those who think it is ok likely also thought the previous system fine too ... so no big motivation to do say anything about it one way or another.
Finally, I think PGI needs to read those customer service lists since I don't think they are paying enough attention ... player retention is central to the long term health of free 2 play games and they need to look at the effects of the changes they make.
That said, I can see their argument than hard game mode selection has to go if they want to introduce additional game modes, Every game mode added makes mode choice that much more of a constraint and splits the player base even further driving up wait times. One or two new game modes would break hard coded mode selection and make for a more complicated matchmaker. As it is the mode voting has reduced wait times for some at the expense of getting the game modes they want.
The main problem with the mode voting is that conquest is a very rare result for those interested in playing it. Many do not like the split objective nature of conquest where their team can be ahead 10:2 and lose due to resources. As a result, skirmish or assault are usually chosen as alternatives.
One possible fix is to use the votes as a weighting ... where each game mode starts with a weight of 1 and the final mode is decided randomly. This way all game modes would show up occasionally and a 40% to 60% vote would not always go to the 60% faction.
A further refinement would be that a map or mode would require at least one vote to be eligible for random selection. So if everyone voted for skirmish then there would be no chance for the alternative.
