You know they actually had a vote for the different bracket of players on what we wanted worked on (map wise) not too long ago, Why not ask your players here what we think of the map voting system? Or the immenent and poorly though out laser nerfs on the PTS
I personally had no issue with it anymore and dont mind waiting for a truly randomized match...kept me on my toes and I did not have to play the same 1 or 2 modes if I chose not too...hell, with the last event I started playing conquest again....an 80alpha dire whale can tip the small skirmishes that occur in that game mode in one or two well placed shots. Assault was also a lot more fun than skirmish...teams deployed differently and occasionally I got to hammer people busy trying to defend their base from the sides and rear unnoticed, racking up the damage and kills in ways you cant really do in skirmish since there are no objectives to distract enemy players...
If they got a feel for how many people actually wanted or did not want this voting system they could react as such, removing it or rethinking it preferably....They basically shot themselves in the foot. Nobody really wants to play hot maps....so all the work they put into Mordor, or any other maps down the pipe pipe that are similar will just be wasted.
Concerning the PTS changes...im sure i speak for the majority here when we say this would be a HORRIBLE change. Ive already gotten Erppcs stocked up for my direwhale and a gauss crab ready to roll...the changes are just going to make the frontloaded problem worse when people all switch back to ppcs and gauss rifles (moreso than now). And youc ant exactly nerf the gauss rifle more than it already has been. It has been said that these changes are not 100% certain but I'm sorry PGI, i do not have faith in your words when it comes to the balance department...I'm really not too happy about the clan heatsink nerfs....that is NOT what needs to be done. It has been said time and time again "Increase dissipation (true 2.0 sinks across the board) and decrease capacity" AND ADD HEAT DAMAGE/PENALTIES...redlining your reactor repeatedly should have adverse affects on your mech. If you had Mechwarrior 3 heat damage the 6 ppc stalker would never have even gotten started and we would never have needed the ghost heat fiasco....lower heat caps would prevent large laser and ppc alphas while increased dissipation would mean people fired smaller groups faster..you increase TTK by making people more DPS rather than frontloaded damage and but a dent in the laserbarf meta....Clanners have to play especially more careful since their weapons have massive heatspikes compared to the cooler IS counterparts...a way to nerf clans without actually NERFING clans to uselessness...Heat can then be tinkered on a per weapon basis eliminating the need for ghost heat in the first place....2 erppcs without ghost heat could nearly 75% your heat scale so no need for ghost heat...however if you have 20+ doubles slapped in said mech you can fire off your next pair fairly quickly, or even chain fire them very fast. No ghost heat required, the mech cannot fire 4+ppcs at once, and it still remains a dangerous long range opponent....everyone wins...cept the guy 800 meters out thats getting pummeled by chain fired PPCS.
How About A Vote On The Vote? And Other Immenent Changes Nobody Wants...

I like the voting system - and I played Alpine Peaks two times today, and Modor once. It works fine. I even played conqeust.
So, I guess it works liek intended, more maps you like and ocassional maps you dislike.

I agree with what you said in the very begining of your post however,
I cut your post of there because the rest is conjecture -

Problem with voting on the forums is that it is a small portion of the population. And there has never been any proof or even overwhelming evidence that a ratio of the active forum participation represents the greater MWO population.
