The brawly, short-ranged Locusts get reduced sensor range..fine, makes sense.
E.g. the Pirate´s Bane, 1E, 3M.
But why do exactly these short ranged mechs get the weakest structure buffs and increased target acquisition times!?
Why are they bad at their designated job? They have to close in, get a lock on their nerfed small lasers and get shot to pieces faster than any other Locust for it.

Because Paul is nerfing based on perceived usefulness of weapons payload. It's the same reason the BJ-1X, BJ-1DC, and BLR-3M have had such gimpy torso twist since they were released.
On the other hand, the other Locusts need more face time to do the same damage, so while the best combat Locusts are worse at their job, they are theoretically normalized with the other Locusts in terms of being combatants.
