Seems like further nerfing of gauss removes this weapon from game at all.
Nobody use it except king crabs and dire wolves. And as a result in hot battle places there are no necessary assault armor for pushing.
Maybe mechs should take only one gauss, no twin or triple loads. Or make them to shoot one by one, not all at the time.
This weapon became useless.

5.5s is too much. It'd be much better if the pumping still remain but reload should be decreased to 3.2-3.5s and forbid twin shot by two gausses. And range should be decreased

uh what? its used on almost every clan mech that can carry it.

clan gauss definitely needed a nerf because it was 3 tons lighter than IS gauss with no downside for being that much lighter.

im not sure IS gauss needed a nerf though.

today twin ac5 is much better than gauss(i talk about IS not clans) with almost equal weight. as for the clans - on live server everybody prefer lasers - gauss is very rare. On pts i was twice and i haven't seen any gauss yet.

Must not be paying attention - Gauss + 4-5 ERML is the current go-to build for laser boat Timbers and Hellbringers. They add offensive ability while balancing the heat generated by weapons. Yeah, it's hard to see the little gauss projectile among the ERML beams, it's still there.

Gauss is too over powered and any nerf is welcome in my book. Make it less of a brawler weapon and more of a skill weapon. The new cool down will make you time your shot better, and you can't rely on it in a brawl. It should be a stand off weapon that you put down when things get hairy.

For close range uac20 deals much more damage than gauss and lbx20 too. For the ranges for medium lasers. So what, we shoul nerf other high caliber ballistics? That is nonsense. And as i've said clans do not feel that as much as IS.with additional 3 tons they buy 3medium lasers.

6.25s is too long, yes.

3 seconds is pants on head ridiculous. It's the longest range weapon in the game, for Pete's sake! You don't want that to ALSO BE THE BEST BRAWLING WEAPON!

Bump cooldown to 4.75s, to end up at 5.5s all said and done.

yeah but the damage from UAC20/LBX20 is super spread out. gauss does all its damage to one location. theres a huge difference in lethality that highly favors gauss.

plus the meta is LONG RANGE not short range. Gauss is one of the best long range weapons in the game because of its max range and high velocity.

thats why gauss/laser is the current meta.


like I said clan gauss needed a huge nerf. but not sure IS gauss needed the same nerf.

Wasn't it only brought up from 4 (4.75) to 5.5 (6.25)

I ran with a Dual Gauss Ebon Jag last night, it felt fine. Yeah, you definitely felt the reload time in a brawl.. but I am perfectly okay with not being able to brawl as well, in something were I can punch holes at 700 meters...

Good luck with the messed up ballistic hit registration then. Gauss hit 100% of the time when aimed properly. Ballistic hit .. 60% of the time, even when aimed properly. No thanks.

I'd be ok if they even bumped it up to 7 second cooldown if they took away the charge up. I feel like it has significant drawbacks now. Sure no heat but with such a long cooldown you won't be firing it enough to warrent a the crutch of charging it up. I can already tell that the mechs that use gauss can drop a ton or 2 of ammo as they won't be able to use all that up having to wait longer between shots. UAC10 now is the more favorable weapon. Lighter, more ammo per ton, more potential dps.

And again - you're talking only about clans. Not about IS. For clans - maybe it should be nerfed.
The difference in 3 tonns is too much.

If PGI forbid twin gauss shot it'll be almost equal with twin ac5, and solve the problem of 30-point alpha.
Therefore it will need some buff. Maybe by the cost of range reduction.It is a facepalm when 2-3 assaults trying to be campers, leaving others to die without support of heavy armor. Despite the design to use gauss.

There's a problem with 30 point alphas? There's a solution to that, you know ... It's called not standing in the way. If I get nailed with a 30 point alpha, it's my own fault for keeping my head out that long.
