Will [60 ton] Rifleman have much less armor than [55 ton] Stormcrow?

No?

It has more armor than a Storm Crow; how much you choose to equip is entirely up to you.

Well, an Atlas can have less armor than a Locust if you choose so.

Rifleman will be much worse than Stormcrow if that's what you're asking.
Will have poor weapon loadout, if std will be slow, if XL will be easily kill-able to side torso, unlike Clan mechs with their unkillable XL and ability to boat whatever they want especially the Crow.

Guys, you have soothed me :)
I had looked to RFL default armor values (which are much less then other heavy mechs have) and get worried a little :)

Crow is overall still stronger and much more flexible, yes, but the upcoming Rifleman will be no slouch either based on my observation. The RFL's saving grace is its high mounted hardpoints and the number of them.

It'll be a heavier Blackjack with worse quirks.

OHSNAP.

We've been calling the Rifleman the Ruffles. This is all wrong. It's totally the ROFL.

Yeah, those default armour values come straight from the stock loadouts of these mechs in the board game. But in MWO we're free to customize our mechs, and the maximum allowed armour value is the same for all mechs in a tonnage class. So the Rifleman can equip the same maximum amount as any other 60-tonner.

(Some of those stock mechs would be real death traps in MWO ... Like the SHD-2D with 144 armour, out of 370 max.)

More tonnage = more maximum armor.
