First they vote Assault. Then they vote for the largest available map.

When we launch, they run straight to the enemy base and try to cap it... leaving the rest of us to fight one lance down.

We almost always get killed, being a lance down, before the cap-rushers cap. Then the cap-rushers get killed.

I used to be able to deselect Assault when the cap-rushers were out in force. But now - thanks to map voting - they can force the rest of us to play their own stupid version of MechWalker Online.

I posted this after 5 such matches in a row. Is anyone else experiencing this? And, any ideas how to mitigate the frequency of this very unsatisfying kind of match, and get back to actual Mech combat?

Who killed them if you were fighting the enemy team? I mean you are a lance down so I figure this to be a 8 v 12 fight. Turrets are gone so how did the cap-rushers get killed?

*Edit*
OK think I got it. OP is dying too fast and probably rushing into the enemy. If the light lance is rush capping the medium and heavy lance should pull back to their base. Then if enemy choses to ignore the cap they can only engage with their medium and light lance leaving their heavy lance just walking until the cap happens.

I've been playing Conquest since forever, and maybe 10% of matches are like this.
My suspect: players trolling the team because they are butt-hurt they did not get the mode they wanted.
If the majority had chosen Conquest, you wouldn't have had only a lance base-rushing, right?

You can stop playing until they remove game mode voting. That's what I did.

Not really.... I'm one of those trolls. I deselected assault when they removed turrets. Alpine and Tourmaline desperately need them. Now that I'm forced to play it I put capture accelerator on my Cheetah and go for instant base cap at all times to drill in this point. On alpine I wait for the fight to start and they rearely get to me in time. And normally it's a beat up light that my cheetah eats. It's no fun at all.

My base is fine. It's fighting one lance down, due to the cap-rushers on my team, which is the problem.

If you don't like getting based capped - defend your base. Even a cheetah with its bad hitboxes isn't going to fare well against a half a team or better focusing it down.

Learn to read. Hes not complaining about his base being taken, hes complaining that 1 lance on HIS team run off to pointlessly cap the enemy base, meaning that the rest of his team has to fight 12 v 8, and thus get stomped. Now the traditional response to this is 'dont play assault, because it sucks' but now we are forced to by silly PGI thinking giving players a vote is sensible.

This is absolutely ridiculous and literally never happens. If half a team did come back for just me I'd get rolled, then my team would roll the other 6 that didn't leave the fight. I've made base capping my mission till turrets are back and I can tell you that it's 1 or 2 lights that I promptly eat.

Dont you love the people that come into a thread and not read it.....No wonder this game unplayable any more.

When will PGI stop making useless mechs and start concentrating on game balance, maps and game modes!?!?!

While I feel bad that it ends up being a low scoring game, they're playing the game mode if they're going for the objective.

One of the reasons why I like conquest over the other 2 modes.

Can't be immediately and quickly capped, though you can lose 5 points early in, it's not as quick as in assault.

Can't be greifed by a mech that runs off and shuts down. If you were down on caps already that's the teams fault, but no 8 minute waits looking for some locust shut down someplace.

Anyway, enjoy the voting. It's better now I hear.

Playing the game mode as it was intended to be is "trolling"?

The trick is for 11 players to play a delaying action, first the 2 lances, then 3 of the 4 cappers, leaving the last one to cap unmolested. :D

Well... I do see your point. In my mind I'm exploiting the fact that many times the opponents flat out can't get back to base in time when I sneak away from combat to cap. It's silly to think that even an organized team would notice 1 or 2 enemy lights missing. It's even sillier to leave mechs behind to guard the base. Turrets were OP but they should at least have med laser turrets. Plus it adds variety when the few crippled mechs left can use their base as extra firepower.
