About a year ago I also was able to buy the PlayStation version of MechWarrior 2 also. The PlayStation version is more arcade (in-match powerups), the maps are smaller, and there is no mechbay :/, but the game is surprisingly close to the PC version and game pad controls are surprising competent. Fun game.
As a side note, YouTuber L-1011 Widebody is doing a pretty decent Let's Play of MW2 right now. It's worth checking out (his Chuck Yager: Air Combat is fun too).

Though I did get MW3 to play on Win 7 easily enough.

Many times I have wished PGI would have just taken MechWarrior2 and expansions and updated the game engine and everything and released it and it more than likely would be Game of the year again in its updated form. These games even with bad graphics are way more fun to play than MWO is in its current form the PVE and the Multiplayer is still a blast to play with friends on IP games or on Gameranger.

No One Lives Forever was ridiculously fun.

MW4 and 3 also were playing like champs on my Windows 8 laptop..... then I upgraded to 8.1 to get some actual OS functionality....and nothing, wont even load. Ditto with Win10.
Can't play MC2 anymore, either.

The game (dos) runs beautifully on MechVM, and is the oldest game I play on my Windows 10, i7 gaming rig

You could only use the special Executioner on that mission... Assuming you didnt modify the .mek file (cheat).

Black & White might not be the best game but it is definitely unique and I loved it as a kid. Though, I was disappointed by the second game and I'm still a bit sad that there was never a third game.
I don't need to say anything about MGS. Played it on PSx though.
Mechwarrior 2 is a fantastic game which I love but haven't played for years because I can't get this damn game working properly. Tried DOSbox, virtual PCs and MechVM and nothing worked so far. After many hours traversing the web for a solution I gave up and hoped for GOG to release it someday.

Which versions do you own? If you have the dos versions of 31st, GBL, and Mercs, all of them should run fine on MechVM (I can probably walk you through it).
The titanium versions might be problematic though.

If you were so inclined, you could hunt down a copy of Windows XP 32/64 depending on what hardware setup you have, load it onto a spare, empty hard drive and boot to that instead, then just install all your old stuff there. Makes for a nice dedicated legacy games platform. Or build a PC specifically for that purpose so your main system isnt occupied.
