Hopefully we start seeing Mech Fluff again, as a regular thing, like we used to.

First thing on the orthos, the arms appear to be a bit more streamlined and less like paddleboards than in the original concept art (hard to be sure considering angles). This is great cosmetically...and not as good, possibly, as far as gameplay, since they will shield a little less than the concept art made me think, if the Model is true to the orthos.

Other note.... not thinking it will combine DPS and XLs well. those side torso will be pretty wide. WHile shielded from the side, mostly, dead on, they are gonna take some abuse.

Still, I rather like what I see on those orthos, visually.

The synergy going between Catalyst, HBS, and PGI right now is frigging amazing.

And that, more than anything is what gives me some hope MWO can survive. As part of that symbiotic family.

Definitely missed these writeups. Props to Randall and thanks PGI for getting back to this.

We need a lot more of this. Newer players just don't have the immersion with Battletech lore and history. It is extensive and gives some good fluff to the universe as whole. A little more of this would go a long way to making this more than just another shooter.

Indeed. We give them Mech Models (sell them...whatever) and they give us (sell us...whatever) Mega Fluff from BT...

Win Win. :)

Someone poke Russ on Twitter that we need more fluff like this, and make it accessible in-game too. Too many people who are new to MWO fail to appreciate the depth of lore in Battletech.

For western democracy sake PGI please rename this mech to the "Gunslinger."
And give it the old Wild West theme.
Gosh darn it's a Rifleman after all.
I channeled Old Chuck and he approves this message.
Somebody tweet old Russ will ya.

Well, I think it will kinda depend on where the hitboxes get drawn. If the CT goes to the end of that spoiler, you're probably going to be in decent shape for an XL. If it lines up with the sides of the cockpit? That's going to be a bit of an issue. I'm guessing that's how it's going to be though, because the CT already has quite a bit of exposure from the sides as it is.

Sure, if you're a betting man the smart money is on it being a XL liability. You never know though. I thought the Mauler was going to lose STs like they were going out of style, but most of the time I'm getting CT cored instead.

The iconic legend killer emblem is missing on the mech...for those who read the novels...

I can tell you reasonably where the torso hitboxes will be. It's easy to tell by where the Medium lasers are. The Side Torso. So, the housing gives us a minimum measuring mark

the red highlights what would probably be optimal, blue what is likely to be part.

And of course, if they make the STs cover the sides of the Cockpit like in some hitbox designs....egads.

Anyhow, the red, should be XL viable, though the friendliness will depend a lot on the pilot.

yeah, been covered in the several "OMG WTF I HATE THAT PAINTJOB" threads and topic..... :P

and indeed I would rather see a more toned down paintjob with that, than the Scooby Doo Mystery Mobile pait we are getting.

XL viable.. "viable" or not, you won't have much choice but take one and hope for the best. A ptoor man's jagermech is stiĺ exactly that. Not that it doesn't look fine and legend killer fluff is coolness plus 11 but did anyone really think this to the end? I mean people called and call the black knight doa...

Looks like im gonna be able to hit that CT from everywhere....like i thought.

Maybe i will be wrong...but that Sensor and bottom of the CT is going to the only place i aim. The arms wont be big enough to cover anything. I called that in another thread. I have a feeling they were just gonna stick Jager arms on it and pat themselves on the back for a job well done.
