Fyi - 144 Hz G-Sync Monitors make Nvidia GPUs run at high idle clockspeeds, powerconsumption, heat.
German Computerbase says Nvidia is hoping to fix the Bug in a future Driver - releasedate unknown:

Old english thread in the Nvidia Forum about similar issues:
https://forums.gefor...gh-power-usage/

Guru3D - Did you know that running 144 Hz causes ridiculously high idle temperatures and power draw on your nVidia GPU?:

So if you have this issue you know you have to wait for the driverfix or run your Screen at a Refreshrate <120Hz.

… I guess you install nVidia Inspector, use it's Multi-Display Power Saver to get off your mid-clocks?

Honestly I wouldn't get a 144hz monitor today unless it has G-Sync support. Even if you have a rig that can sustain 144hz at all times in all situations ( impossible ). Spend the extra $150 on a G-Sync monitor if your going to go 144hz. At least this way you can enjoy situations when your game goes to 86fps and would normally look horrible, whereas with G-Sync it will appear smooth as silk.

low fps still looks better on high refreshrates.

But gsync/freesync should be smoother still.

Gsync becomes increasingly useless at high refresh rates; best case scenario for Gsync is with a 30 Hz (4K) monitor. Standard Vsync turned on at 144 Hz is averaging about 3ms of additional input latency compared to Gsync. If those 3 milliseconds are worth $150 to you, have at it, but ~90 fps is not going to "look horrible", or more importantly, feel horribly laggy with standard vsync.
