Rather than straight capping, allow damage done to reset or reverse some of the capping done. This forces a team to defend the cappers from taking damage, or allows a light to prevent the cap by skirmishing and evading damage, vice running back as a martyr until the slower mechs get there.

This is something that is good in theory, (Other tank games do it to good effect.)
But I feel its flawed in execution due to how MW is.
For one, capping takes a LONG time in this game. The only time you really are able to cap quickly is if you have 4+ mechs on the spot, and even then, your opponents can react to you easily.
The other issue is that capping is both not balanced, nor fun in the current game. You are not rewarded well for achieving the main mission objections, and for the most part, people ignore it in favor of just treating it as another form of skirmish.
Something that is dumb in of itself.
Also, points are not created equil in MWO. look at the cap points on river city, One cap point can be fired upon from both upper city and citadel half way across the map, while the other is tucked away behind heavy cover.
I'm not against this idea if it was balanced and added to the assault mode that we had now, but as it exists currently, I just find this to be one more excuse to just "ignore the objective" which is the last thing that assault needs right now.
