I played a few matches last night and I have to say I absolutely loved the vote system. The wait times were pretty much none existent which was my main gripe before hand.

I'm also liking the disconnect penalties! I was sick of people joining a match only to leave and farm c-bills like a scrub.

Keep it up :D

What people don't understand is that maps that are selected by the MAJORITY OF THE VOTES.
in other words, these maps are preferred by the MAJORITY OF PLAYERS.
Not the best. Not the worst. THE MAJORITY.
Don't like it? So why the ***** do you live in a democratic country then?

good analogy for war. maybe the allies should have voted to face {Godwin's Law} in asia, i am sure the germans would have moved their troops to accomodate.

also i am sure if the people of mexico just pull together and vote against the hurricane it will veer off somewhere; like - who would ever want a hurricane to threaten your house; you should have voted against it

nothing is ever random, random things do not occurr and we shouldn't prepare for it cause why bother

so now that we've established these random things just cannot happen; then we can agree that they don't belong in a military sim game

you are playing all modes, don´t you?
so for you is nothing changed

i hate it to play conquest and i do not like assault since turrets (i know, turrets are gone, but it isn´t the same like before and i loved assault before turrets)
skirmish is the first choice for many players, assault the second one, so is not an big change for me except i´ve to play assault

but

how about those guys who like to play conquest? they´re forced by majority to play another mode and if you were forced to play something you don´t want to play it, would you say you have fun playing this game?

this is the reason

you want to play mwo and you´ll be forced to play i.e. chess because the majority want to play chess now and u have to play with them whether you like it or not, or many people are choosing what you should eat for breakfast, would you like it?

democracy is nice, but you have to choose some things for yourself and not via majority and the game mode here is one of those things

btw

why did PGI not asked us BEFORE they´ve changed it? we would say them whether we want it or not and that would be very democratic

While I do agree to some extent that users should have some form of free will, I think it's a much fairer system if the majority vote wins. There isn't that much difference between the game modes.

And on a side note, prior to the patch i only played skirmish and assault, I didn't like conquest much. But I got over it and just played the game, its still fun and i still enjoy it :)

Compared to what? Everyone getting their piece of the cake and getting to eat it, without stepping on each other's toes?

It's true that the other modes are oftentimes played as skirmishes with some squares that the deathball ignores. But to me, it at least provided an option other than deathballing and could actually punish the team for ignoring the objective every now and again.

That is perfectly fine, enjoying a game is the main reason for playing it, I'd say.

From my post patch experience, it did not change for you too much these days. How many Conquests were you in since the patch went live? And how many Skirmishes and Assaults? If your numbers are close to mine, you've barely seen Conquest, if at all.

The democracy and fairness speech is all fine and dandy, but when I play a game, I intend to have fun, which I most of the time fail to find in Skirmish matches... When you take away the fun from a game, what's the point in playing it?

Guys, I didn't want this to end up being a place for people to complain. This thread was meant for me to show my appreciation, feedback is welcomed i'm sure but if you have a problem please take it to your own thread and start a discussion there :)

Want Terra Therma back in queue? Make standing in center same as standing in lava. Heat comes up. Get rid of Ghost HeatTM. Problem solved. Yes more people like the Lower temp maps. But also they are better designed. You can win on Frozen city in more than one point of the map. Alpine...not so much. People like Tourmaline and Caustic. Therma. No. Center all day and it bites the big one.

And for that matter, How many times have you seen bog? No hotter than some maps. People don't want it because of the garbage you have to attempt to traverse and get stuck on just to get around.

not your son i am your father.

and i am talking about soldiers being able to vote where they are deployed; it DOESN'T HAPPEN.

real military isn't asked hey would you like to go deploy in the middle east? or would you prefer hawaii

furthermore the game needs this element of randomness otherwise it is all what the majority wants;
and the majority wants to run their laser boat (or whatever meta is in this month) so clearly that breaks some stuff at least.

it is utterly myopic that people don't care about any of this cause they don't want to play therma.

that's the mark of an absolute scrub, L2P all maps... SON

A guy posted happy 4th of July and became a huge political thread of hating the US so...you are bound to get the other side of the ball in any post. It is a good idea, but needs tweaking, I liked the random maps because I didn't know what to expect thats what I liked about the play now button every match was different, and now we go to every match is the same. Sorry to crap on your thread but people have opinions.

I give it this I've been in more matches in any day I've played mechwarrior, but I've also been in more blow outs and boring matches because it is the same 3 maps every game and the same 2 gamemodes. No more conquest games for this guy.

What you call "democracy" can also be seen as "Tyranny of the Majority", especially under certain conditions. I leave what those are to you.

I'd rather have everything be random. And yes, that includes matchmaking.
