A few questions.

Shortpainter over on the Fanart forums said "Urbanmech feet are so big, they get a -2 on death from above rolls."

1.) How many mechs have roll modifiers for DFA attacks? Is that common?

2.) Will those modifiers be implemented in MWO to make DFA attacks by certain jump jet capable mechs more effective than others?

I noticed that in a dev blog they mention this as an assault/defense skill you can learn:
DFA Damage Reduction – Reduces the amount of damage caused by performing a Death From Above attack

3.) If some mechs have roll modifiers to make DFA more effective, does that scale with the DFA Damage Reduction skill, creating a mech+pilot combo that is more efficient at the deadly maneuver?

Cause that'd be cool.

Since were not part of the dev team nor have access to beta yet, there is no way to answer this question at this time. Besides, if any of us were in beta and had insight into this, we could not discuss it anyways due to NDA.

Regardless, DOA should be considered "last ditch", all weapons waisted, lancemates are down, heat is going off the charts when walking, ect...

Well I think there will be a lot tries to do this, because they think it is so to jump ON a mech ;-)
Anyway, bigger feet means, you have a higher chance to hit your target. So you dont need to worry about any modifiers. You just need the skills.

Ah ok. So no mech ever got damage modifiers for DFA attacks? Just chance to hit modifiers?

From what I saw of jump jetting in the leaked beta video, DFAs are going to be HARD to pull off.

Hopefully that means they'll be correspondingly rewarding.

There is no special hit modifier for big feet ;-) And the damage you do with your mech depends on your tonnage. Urbie makes less damage then an Atlas on your head ;-)
But if you are good enough to come close to your enemy with an Urbie, then you are a genius. Urbie is good for "long range" support in a city. In open field you should stay far away from your enemy to use the long range of your AC.

If you plan on DFA attacks, make sure leg armor is very good and you have jump jet "juice" left in the tank at impact to help you land or 'hop' away.

Jump on an enemy mech, when he falls over, don't jump away, stay on-top of him.

Crouch up & down repeatedly making faintly sexual noises over voip. Make sure your team-mates are recording through fraps.
Post this humiliation to youtube. All the reward I'd need. B)

Maybe not actual "rolls", but mechs with bigger feet/leg models in game might have an easier time hitting someone with DFA.

I don't know why everyone is wanting to use the DFA attack. That same [RETRACTED] video shows 2 different mechs hurting their legs after they jump up too high. Now then what do you think you are going to do when you jump a 35 ton Jenner onto an Atlas? You're likely to break your mech's leg in the attempt and he will just spin around and finish you.

The idea is that you want to hit the actual head - which is very exposed on an Atlas. A Jenner should have more armor on its legs than the Atlas has on its head... so an accurate landing by the Jenner at a high enough speed should be trouble for the Atlas.

What will be interesting is other mechs with their heads in the front / middle instead of the top. I am thinking the JagerMech, for example - good luck DFAing one of those successfully :D
