that would be around the same time Jordan Weisman and HBS started using MWO's mech designs for the turn based battletch game in the works. you really think the Unseen were coming out as fast as they are just for cash? Alex is probably working his ass off so as many of the classic battletech mechs can be put into that 3025 era game as possible. Us getting them is just a nice side effect and it gets PGI some decent bank too.

Licensing something does not make you a partner in any sort. You sure they are partners? Or does HBS only licensed some of MWOs mechs?

A Steam launch with the rebalancing on the PTS far from completion and ghost heat mechanics and quirks still in place? Is that wise?

Finally you did it, Steam release! That means (hopefully) a much bigger player attendance. Congrats for this next step!

they have an art-sharing agreement. Jordan's also part of the reason HG lost their copyright crap recently, if i'm not mistaken.

damn and you people complain that PGI doesn't respond to forum posts. This thread is toxic :)
well, every thread is toxic ...

Steam launch = good.

Just because the game is not PERFECT in your perfect happy pink imagined BT world, doesn't mean it's not ready for steam. I have been playing tons of games over the last 3 years and none of them keeps me coming back like MWO. Wurl of Tonks has hundreds of thousands of players and is completely broken and has so many bugs, MWO looks like a piece of perfected assembler-code im comparison.

If anything breaks MWO it'll be the toxic hateful crybaby attitude some of the community members keep throwing at Russ all the time. Grow up guys.

I rather think its the redesign of the unseen mechs.

Maybe they have lost faith and dont think that the new players wont last too long as this game is not really beginner friendly. But thats all assumptions.

This perfectly sums up myself and, I get the feeling it sums up a majority of the community as well.

I only tolerate MWO because it's MechWarrior. If it was some other franchise I didn't care about I would not have supported this the way I have.

There will be so many rage on you ;) But wait who cares you don't read your own forum. Sry I forget about that ;)

As a newish player I do find this "Great lets kill the Noobs" attitude to be toxic and infintile and will put new players off staying in the game. I think a few of you forget that once you were new and now act like a bunch of entitled *****.

It will not be Steam Players which will kill the game it will be the toxic infantile few who play the game.

Great news! I am sure that the new blood will be a huge boost for the development of MWO. I play this game frequently for quite a time now - I started shortly after the launch actually. I love the game and I am looking forward to a great steam release.

Most Tier 1s won't be able to see the new players anyway. Anyone who's good enough to reach Tier 3 is fair game. :3

I thought it was only tier 5 that don't see tier 1, and since new players are dropped into tier 4 for no good reason whatsoever, they will end up seeing tier 1.

Wow so much hate in this thread.

Look guys, i've been here since Oct 2012.
I've left the game and returned quite a few times now. Everytime i come back i wonder why i stopped playing. Until i grind myself out again and then stop playing for a month or 2.

We all know the game has some problems....however...the core of the game is solid.. i'm talking Skirmish/Conquest/Assault.

The bottom line is this (imo of course) - this game will bring to steam a lot more than some of the popular free to play titles.
It will be a hugely popular release on Steam (trust me i have installed and played nearly all the steam f2p games in the most popular list).

Stompy laser spewing robots....who isnt going to want to play it on steam...

In fact my only reservation is that newcomers might find it hard to get into....but then again gamers these days i think like challenges. We also have the tutorial now and to be honest other than legs/torso its not that far removed from FPS's...i know peeps hate hearing that but well..its true.(its certainly true in a fast light mech anyway...maybe not so much an Atlas :D )

Anyway Congrats to the Devs. Its definately time this game was on Steam...long overdue if you ask me. I forsee a huge influx of players from this.

Thought of something. There is still a month for release. Still time to do 1-2 more PTS if they go complete brass tacks. Also hard set date puts pressure on the dev team. OR it is set in stone what is going to happen and the PTS was just a refinement of what we are going to see and not necessarily a test.

Next town hall meeting needs to address these concerns people are voicing.

Also should add. Now with this date set. You NEED to brass tacks. Screw PTS. Make the main servers PTS for whole community and roll with the punches. Throw rewards in for a few weeks straight for us dealing with the testing. Thus you need to incentivize with rewards. You need to get people use to the system before you get a bunch of people rolling in only to find out what they learn is completely being rewrote and reworked. I know there is a lot of complainers here, but think it is bad now?

This game is not STEAM ready. Doing this now will result in the community on steam looking at the game and then leaving. You will squander your only chance to increase the player base.
  • Community warfare needs to be finished. Version 1, no beta.
  • The game needs to be in a balanced state.
  • Maps all need to be updated. The residual v1 maps you still have in the game will turns people away.
  • Social features need to greatly improved.
  • Skill tree needs to be updated and polished.
  • The lobby experience needs to be improved.
  • And Many More!
