If so can we do away with most weapon perks or at least get us closer to bridging the balance gaps?
Maybe not all tech like perhaps you'd have to keep heat sinks locked to their faction chassis but it could really change the balance in a positive way if there was no prejudice or do you think it would be too exploitable.Giving IS Mech's with a low number of Hard Points more range and alpha and Clan more brawl or maybe cooler options might help balance chassis geometry.
Everyone would be able to get the best from their mech's geometry and add more choice customization options...

I Also would like ammo to be increased by an extra 25% capacity per ton.And armor that has benefits against lasers but negatives towards ballistics and weight or crit-slots to match.Ac2's to be cooler and rifles ballistic/plasma to make better use of weight/space/heat.

Yes, it is "canon" to salvage anything that can be salvaged.. using it however... that's a different matter..

Clan technology is greatly superior to IS technology, and it will take the IS years to make practical applications of it on its mechs.

Just look at how long it took the US military to start using Alien tech recovered in Roswell :P

When the timeline advances by a few years/decades then IS and CLANS will have crosstech and lostech.. and will be a little more even.. until then..

Keep gathering tech you don't understand and sending it to your scientists for study! ;)

Yes it is lore, and it was a big part of campaigns.

Of course, allowing you to salvage clan tech and put it on your IS mechs with CBill conversion kits would balance this game in a heartbeat. Of course, nobody would be playing with most IS tech.

I don't think PGI is ready to do that yet.

Yup. The Draconis Combine had a huge head start on developing their own omnimechs because they looted so much clan swag after Wolcott and Luthien.

The fluff text for the Kurita omnis talk about universal plugs that allow them to use salvaged clan weaponry and a few of the higher profile DCMS units are listed in the faction sourcebook as having X% clan machines.

Right now all Clan salvage is being shipped directly to the R&D departments of the various Inner Sphere houses. At the NAIS, it's like Christmas.

And we, the IS, get to benefit from that as soon as 3054.

Clan tears will be tasty when we have IS Streak-6's.

I really hope next-gen Inner Sphere tech is incremental and slow in coming......

You want to know what?!?

The BEST way they could allow cross tech is requiring large amounts of participation in Community Warfare.

Get 1203918230918409184 loyalty points in Kurita, Davion, etc and unlock Clan Small Laser.

Get 10348203958250943850398534 LP in Kurita, Davion etc and unlock Clan UAC5 etc.

Get 103294843509438509438 Unlock IS Large Pulse Lasers for Clan Whatever.

Have these rewards useable ONLY while still associated with the House/Clan you earned the reward on. If you are a Merc similiar rewards at 10x the cost to reflect the greedy little bureaucrats holding on to tech for dear life and big payouts.

It's better just to not allow cross teching.

Why? Because it becomes a free pass to not properly balance clan versus IS weapons and the whole endgame will just be everyone using clan weapons only. That's just not the point of the BattleTech universe.

I must have been playing every single mechwarrior game ever wrong then.

Clan tech was objectively better in basically every game and I had no reason to pick IS equipment until now.

Do tell. What was the point, in your eyes?

I beg to disagree here. If I am going to be 'brawling' a lot, I'd prefer the IS pulse lasers for their shorter burn times and lower heat.

More scoot and shoot in your shoot scoot wait, shoot scoot wait, that is the clan side.
