MWO already has a "subscription" in the form of Premium Time. The problem is that it's kinda underwhelming. Beef it up and make it actually do stuff, and drastically cut the grind (and perhaps other benefits?).

I would not pay a subscription fee of any amount. I buy MC or mech packs when I have the free money to do so and when I feel the game is worth playing. Currently, mech death match is boring, I dislike the new voting system and I am less than confident in the Great Rebalance, so I won't be spending any more money right now. If MWO becomes subscription based, it will lose some of the current players and few new players are going to pay to play a half-baked robot FPS with this many problems.

Very few games made if any are subscription based, those that still are ESO, SWTOR, give big bonuses for remaining subscribed, F2P or purchase to F2P both with extra toys that cosr rl cash, generates far more revenue

I've suggested offering a subscription but not making the game subscription based. If you pay for a subscription you get extra goodies such as prem time, discounts, etc.

that would be the way to do it if they wanted to add it into the game

Hell no. I'll quit playing for good if it is.

MWO would need to be a far step above "minimum viable product" before a subscription model would work, let alone me buying into it.

Would only work with a top notch campaign system like cw, but with 10x more contend. I already subbed to a game with a grand campaign for 100 bucks a year, will do that again, if I could see a any progress.

If you buy enough MC to purchase premium time on a monthly basis, you have your subscription.
Asking for any more subscriber rewards than auto-premium time is unrealistic.

If you buy mech packs you have enough premium time AND don't have to purchase MC AND you get mechs for it. No need for subscription at all.. ..got 127 days of banked premium time and have yet to buy any premium time with MC, in fact had premium time pretty much all the time since the get go without buying it...

A mandatory sub for MWO would have as much success as Mortal Online:

I started a reply in favor of a subscription mode, but quickly realized the pitfalls. Subscription games must provide lots of content. No one is going to subscribe to an arena shooter.

Maybe if PGI created a campaign in CW that could be engaged individually or as a team.
Keep in mind campaign does not mean AI, it just means growth and progress. IS starts with 3025 tech stock mech, rewards are tracked separate from chills those rewards are spent on faction specific upgraded for our mechs. PSR is tracked and unlocks planet paths and reward options, assuring that opposing teams are on similar tiers with appropriate rewards (also offering an incentive to progress). Clans could have a similar path or be a top teir unlock to battle top tier IS. Incentivizing IS vs Clan would depend on population port side.

That is something I could subscribe to, of course eventually leading to be building and bounties and raid. PGI just has to think of this as more than an arena shooter.
