If I remember right, doesn't the "Production Hardware" come today? Are you guys at PGI excited?

If you work with that stuff, it is not so much exciting as you think it is.
I would think bringing servers online so that more people can beta test and being one step closer to releasing the game would be pretty exciting.
Also, I do work with that stuff.

It's always exciting when it's delivered and unpacked, once that's done the realization of the work now ahead for getting it all setup hits you....hard lol

IIRC July 10th was the inital date for the new hardware. IIRC the August 7th date came about because of delays in getting the hardware.

Having rackspace and cabling in place for new servers wouldn't be all that difficult to have done ahead of time. Once all the servers are up and connected, the next big task would be configuration and installation of software. They probably already have a server image set up so loading it on every new server is just going to be a matter of the time it takes to get it installed. Integration with the existing beta servers and any other admin work will need to be done before they can starting adding player load. Even if they get production hardware today, there is no way to know how long before more beta keys go out, if any. It could be days before they are ready to open up new servers if they get the hardware delivered today sometime.

True. They will have to do hardware testing and make sure all systems are nominal before throwing out the beta keys like confetti.

I'm hoping beta keys start trickling out on Friday or so... until then, I just keep checking to see if there are any updates like "Yes, the hardware arrived and everything's on schedule", or "The hardware won't be here till next week, everything is pushed back 1 week"
