Are the PTS4 servers still operational?

Nope, been wondering why the whole PTS Forums section is not closed off.

Lolwut, no, unless you cheat by counting missiles on the 1SIB.

Lolwut, not from what I have seen.

6 ML + 2 MPL = 42 alpha, which is higher than any vomit the Vindi is possible of. Sure you could count missile alphas, but not quite the same. That and the BJ-3 with 3 LPL will be better than anything the Vindi can do as well at that range.

My vindicators have been collecting dust for over a year now...event the St.Ives blue.
They just aren't competitive :(

Missiles do count and work quite fine when I use them.
A 1R with 5 MPL and 1SRM6 does 42.9 alpha, if you want Artemis use ASRM4 and still close at 38.6. Both of those use STD engines to the BJ's usual XL so the Vind is tougher not counting quirks.

I do agree the Vind has problems like the low arm mounts but that requires use in a different way of course. There are plenty of Tier 1 and close to it Mechs with low arm mounts.

Except the 1R is running a STD because you can't push it to be fast enough, and no, there is a big difference between a 42 pinpoint alpha, and a 30 pinpoint alpha with some missiles sprinkled in. So he has a serious speed advantage (90kph is slow for a medium brawler.), range advantage, sustainable damage, and high mount advantage over you even without quirks, which makes for a pretty weak Vindi. Jump jets don't really matter and your STD engine doesn't matter either since legs are always prime target for good anti-brawling tactics.

Dont worry about it guys. All existing 45 tonners will be junk when the PXH comes out :-)

No it wouldn't, it really isn't as big as you think. It's tall, sure, but it really isn't that big. It really is just missing the BJ level quirks. The 1AA didn't get any manueverability quirks while the BJ-1X did, on top of its structure buffs which just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The 1SIB is the missile variant of the group but only got 10% cooldown and velocity and considering the limited energy capability hurt its overall usefulness. The 1X is a step in the right direction still needs more appropriate quirks. Missile quirks are silly on it, ballistics need less cooldown and more velocity, while PPCs need less velocity and more cooldown so that you can use an AC10/PPC combo and let them sync in velocity.

Quirks be damned, if you consider the sizing...

The Vindicator is about the size of an Enforcer. The Blackjack is about the size of a Cicada, possibly a little smaller once side hitboxes are considered. And a good bit of the size increase comes from the Vindicator's "head" increasing the area of the torso hitboxes.

Low weapon mounts, a little big for it's weight, mediocre quirks, mediocre hardpoints, being a little sub-par everywhere all compounds.

We did comparisons a long time ago with side and front profiles, the size isn't really that bad off, not near Treb, Cent, or Nova levels. Comparing against lights is also misleading because there is a sizable gap between most lights and all the other mechs. The Vindi is about 5% larger than it probably should be.

Treb is pretty damn bad. Almost as bad as the Grasshopper and Quickdraw.
