The Jerk Who Was the Big WWII Enemy did not run on Socialism, while the original name for his party had Socialism in the name, it was never truly Socialist or leftist.
Nazism really isn't any different than socialism or communism, it's just not class based and rather nationality based, Oppression under a government regime is still oppression. Though I'll give you that Adolf wasn't a socialist himself, that is however the platform he ran under.

Conservatives want to expand government too, just in different areas. Places they want to shrink government will have harmful effects, some parts of government cannot shrink or be expanded, others have to fluctuate, you cannot go wholesale to one or the other.
Neocons, those on the republican side who wish to expand government aren't conservatives. Hell you might as well call them liberals. Expansion of government is counter to conservatism and libertarianism..

Plenty of criminals in places with more lax gun laws, just because the type of crime is different doesn't make it safer. Plus some places that claim safety are fudging numbers and stats.
There's crime everywhere, that's a given, you however are moving the goal post. The comment was specific to gun crimes, and I highly doubt the FBI fudges it numbers. Areas of the US with the strictest gun laws, are also the areas with the most gun crime per FBI data. That's indisputable, you can try and twist it all day long, you'll still be wrong at the end of the day.

Bonehead move allowing concealed carry on campus.
Hardly, it's a proven fact criminals are less likely to commit gun violence and shoot up schools if they have the fear of not being able to do so without getting taken down by a law abiding trained person with a fire arm. FBI statistics don't lie in regards to gun crime, despite how often the left tries to spin it. And in reality the left fears an armed populace, it's awful hard to transform America into a Socialist Cultural Marxist dictatorship with 300 million gun owners. There's a reason the founding fathers worded the 2nd amendment how they did, and the left hasn't found a way around it yet.

Attack on Free Speech also comes from both sides.
No it really doesn't Conservatives and Libertarians aren't looking to limit or outlaw free speech on college campuses. That's all on the left. Not one person who is a conservative tries to silence criticism of thought by trying to get speech itself outlawed just because liberals don't like to go outside their precious echo chambers.

Both ideologies are destructive and too egotistical to admit when they are wrong and need the other to survive. The USA should no more walk down a Libertarian or Conservative path than it should a 'Progressive' or Liberal one.
What is more destructive? Coddling people to the point where they can't do anything for themselves? Or making them stand on their own two feet and making something of themselves and not being beholden to a government entity to pay their way and baby them from cradle to grave? Look at someone like Bernie Sanders, logically how do you think he's going to pay for all this free this and free that he's trying to promise people? Taxes, more and more and more taxes, on a middle class that is shrinking because of...wait for it.. more and more taxes from the Obama administration to pay for Obamacare for those who refuse to make the effort. Remember? You're going to save thousands! Only the fact is premiums on health care have continued to climb since 2009. Remember? You can keep your doctor! (Well only if your doctor accepts the plans forced on you by Obamacare, required maternity leave for single 20 something males and seniors
http://www.cnn.com/2...r-middle-class/ It's working though! "Such "insurance" from Obamacare not only fails to provide access to doctors, but research in the top medical journals such as Cancer, American Journal of Cardiology, Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation and Annals of Surgery, show that Medicaid beneficiaries suffer worse outcomes than similar patients with private insurance ... all at an added cost of another $800 billion by CBO estimates to taxpayers after the decade." So we're spending an additional 800 billion dollars on top of our near 20 trillion of debt already, to provide worse care. If that's what democrats view as a win, God help us.
Logically people would move to the right and vote for small government libertarians, you would think people would have had enough of progressive ******** and Neocons by now. You're never going to pay down the debt before it implodes worse than the great depression otherwise. And it's coming sooner than we'd like.
